Season 2, Episode 1 "It's Alive"

It's Alive- We Are Liars Season 2, Episode 1

[00:00:00] ILISSA TENIO: To listen, Michelle, how fitting that you've chosen to dive into the world of secrets and mysteries. You think you're safe behind your microphones, don't you? Watch your words, ladies, for even the most innocent whispers can ignite the most dangerous of flames. Every word spoken echoes, and every secret has a way of slithering out.

[00:00:20] ILISSA TENIO: Are you ready for what lies ahead?

[00:00:40] ILISSA TENIO: You know, fun fact about this episode is that it aired. 86 days after Season 1 Closer, but we took a longer break than 86 days, but we're back.

[00:00:53] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: You had me doing math

[00:00:54] ILISSA TENIO: and I'm like... She's like, one, two. One, two. Yeah, so we are back in [00:01:00] full force for Season 2 of Pretty Little Liars. We are Liars Podcast. I'm the veteran, Liss.

[00:01:07] ILISSA TENIO: And I'm the newbie, Michelle. And we're going to discuss Season 2. Episode 1 titled It's Alive, which I guess makes sense for the episode because is Ian alive, not alive? I just

[00:01:18] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: think of Frankenstein.

[00:01:19] ILISSA TENIO: It's Alive! Funny that you said that because Seth also thought of that and he sent that to me on a DM. Well, I mean, that makes sense.

[00:01:27] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. And I was like, so funny since you guys are doing the Frankenstein

[00:01:30] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: thing. Yeah. We did the whole month of Frankenstein movies. Hey, check out Movie Friends. It was

[00:01:34] ILISSA TENIO: fun. It might be an ad in this episode. Who knows? Yeah. Who knows? Uh, this episode aired June 14th, 2011, written by I'm Marlene King and directed by Ron Lagomarsino.

[00:01:44] ILISSA TENIO: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. June? June 14th. What a weird

[00:01:49] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: time for a show to come back.

[00:01:51] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, they stopped airing in March. Yeah. And then they started up again in June. This,

[00:01:57] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: was this like an ABC Family thing? [00:02:00] They did weird. breaks and

[00:02:01] ILISSA TENIO: stuff, didn't they? Probably, yeah, probably. Okay. I don't remember, but at the time I'm sure it made sense or didn't make sense.

[00:02:10] ILISSA TENIO: I don't

[00:02:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: know. It doesn't matter. We can move on. I'm sorry to

[00:02:12] ILISSA TENIO: interrupt your flow. In this episode, the Liars face the fallout from what happened with Ian. Their parents have a talk with them about a therapist. Caleb returns to see Hanna. Spencer is told that Toby is off limits.

[00:02:26] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I mean, wasn't he always though?

[00:02:29] ILISSA TENIO: From day one. Right. But now, more so than ever, Toby's Self Love Notes. Sure, yeah. First and foremost, I want to shout out our listeners. Because we've been gone, but we've heard your reviews, and that you love the show, and that you miss us, and we just want to say thank you. And we're so happy because the feedback is so important to us.

[00:02:53] ILISSA TENIO: We're always trying to enhance our podcast, you know, whatever works with the flow of the show. So we just wanted to thank you for your [00:03:00] reviews and Why not read one now?

[00:03:02] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah, we do have a liar of the week. Thank you so much. This is from Jordi Michelle B. So glad I found you five stars. I watched BLL when it came out and over the past year, I re watched it two more times.

[00:03:16] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I never have anyone. In capitals, ANYONE to talk about the show so I searched an Apple podcast and discovered We Are Liars. Wow, look at that SEO working in our favor. Look at us

[00:03:26] ILISSA TENIO: working that

[00:03:27] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: analytics. It truly feels like getting to sit down with friends and re watch the show, book club but

[00:03:33] ILISSA TENIO: way better.

[00:03:35] ILISSA TENIO: That is like a good slogan. I know, we might take that. Book club but better? Book club but better. Hmm. Well, thank you Jordi, Michelle. Thank you so much. If you haven't already and you like the show, excited for season two, please consider a rating and review on Apple. If you listen on Spotify, tap the stars on Spotify.

[00:03:58] ILISSA TENIO: We just want to know that you're [00:04:00] enjoying and it helps us out. SEO, clearly someone found us from typing in maybe Pretty Little Liars podcast. I don't know. Wow, so cool. Okay. I also want to make a note. I have told our patrons, but to tell the rest of the the listeners out there, we now offer a phone number.

[00:04:17] ILISSA TENIO: So if you want to leave a voicemail or a review on there or have a question or comment, please leave us a message at 631 600 3916. Let's see how long it takes me to memorize that.

[00:04:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Oh, we need to make a good

[00:04:33] ILISSA TENIO: jingle. We should like, um. That college commercial, college commercial, get connected for free with education connection.

[00:04:46] ILISSA TENIO: That's the one. And we should make a, like a spoof, like a 90s spoof of our phone number. I like it. I like

[00:04:51] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: it. Wow. We're we haven't even gotten started. Not even book club, but better. We're singing songs about our phone number. I'm hitting

[00:04:58] ILISSA TENIO: the mic. [00:05:00]

[00:05:00] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: We are back, baby. We

[00:05:01] ILISSA TENIO: are back. We're back. Okay. So, last season, we see the girls with Ian.

[00:05:07] ILISSA TENIO: He's swinging from the church. Swinging. Hanging. Swinging from the church. Uh, that's a way to put it. And we see this hooded figure, possibly A. The cops show up. And they're like, what's happening? Because Ian is nowhere to be found. We pick up immediately after that. Which you were happy about. Very happy about.

[00:05:26] ILISSA TENIO: It's undecided if Officer Garrett, who the girls have been working with, is good or bad. We don't really know, still. But he brings them to the station, but while he's en route, they stop. And he's like, look, you can't tell them I was working with you. You can't tell them you're a Blackman. Blackmailing Ian, certainly don't mention any videos, so like, they really don't have anything to go off of basically just saying that they saw Ian dead, and that's pretty much it.

[00:05:55] ILISSA TENIO: Also, our friend Jenna is keeping close watch. Of,

[00:05:58] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: well, well, [00:06:00] close, close watch. Close, close watch. Close here, because she can't

[00:06:04] ILISSA TENIO: see. Close here. Or can she? Good thinking. Thank you. It would be, the girls don't think that. Right, no, I know, I know, I know. Uh, so, as we know, Jenna and Garrett are also seeing each other still.

[00:06:20] ILISSA TENIO: Who knows what's going to happen with that. Mike wants to know, now that you've seen the entire Lizzie McGuire movie, has your opinion about Paolo slash Garrett, have your thoughts changed about him? Uh,

[00:06:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: thank you so much, Michael. I have not thought about Paolo or Garrett until this very moment where I had to think about what you were talking about.

[00:06:40] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And then I was like, oh, right. They are the same

[00:06:43] ILISSA TENIO: actor. But they're like, they're so not the same person. Like when you, when he came onto the screen in 2011 and my sister and I were watching this show and we were like, he looks familiar, but it did not connect. And then we were like, oh my God, like it, he doesn't look like the same person.[00:07:00]

[00:07:00] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: No, no. So. Yeah, and I always forget that I've now seen the Lizzie McGuire movie, but Mike and my sister Continuously remind me about like what is wrong with me that I have not seen it and you know, you killed me assassinated me with your eyes,

[00:07:15] ILISSA TENIO: so It makes me sad that you forget that you've watched it.

[00:07:20] ILISSA TENIO: That's how much it means to us. I don't so

[00:07:23] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: sorry. No

[00:07:24] ILISSA TENIO: comment Oh Well, anyway. I won't forget, because you guys keep reminding me. We won't let you forget it. No. So Jenna and Garrett have this very funny brief scene together where they're like, Jason's back. And Jenna's like, don't say it. And he's like, what, the Jason thing?

[00:07:41] ILISSA TENIO: And I'm like, Is this, was this in the books? Please tell me that they're, the Jason and the Jenna thing were in the books because if they created this, I mean, shame on you. And then I'm like, who's Jason? She goes, who's Jason? I'm like, oh no, it's been a long time. We wrapped in April. It's been six [00:08:00] months, so.

[00:08:00] ILISSA TENIO: Oh my

[00:08:00] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: god, but I, they were like having, it's the Jason thing and Liss is cracking up. I'm like, wait,

[00:08:05] ILISSA TENIO: who's Jason? She's like, who's Jason? Jason. I'm like Allie's brother. She's like, Oh, right, right, right. Okay. I'm back. I'm back. I love how they also don't mention that, like, where did Maya's parents go? Maya who?

[00:08:19] ILISSA TENIO: Maya who? Maya's parents. They were living in Allison's house. Now that Maya's gone, her parents are also gone. Nobody mentioned that. And Jason bought his old childhood home. Wait, okay,

[00:08:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: wait a minute.

[00:08:33] ILISSA TENIO: Right. See, it's confusing. So,

[00:08:36] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: that shadowy figure we saw was Jason? Yeah. We're led to

[00:08:40] ILISSA TENIO: believe. Mm hmm. We will finally see him next week.

[00:08:44] ILISSA TENIO: Finally. But

[00:08:45] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: it's different Jason. It's good

[00:08:47] ILISSA TENIO: Jason. It's glow up Jason. I'm so excited. I can't wait to see who this is. I can't wait for you to see him either. Will I know

[00:08:54] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: him? I don't think so. Oh, okay. Well, that tracks. It's

[00:08:57] ILISSA TENIO: just very, he's just very nice to look at. [00:09:00] Oh, oh, hey, I welcome it. So the next day, after this whole thing, the girls have this cute little sleepover and they're recounting what happened, they're not really understanding why A would save Spencer and kill Ian, and they feel like, they just obviously still don't know what's going on.

[00:09:20] ILISSA TENIO: Nobody knows what's going on. They're like, oh, A, what do we do? Obviously. We need caffeine. We need caffeine. And they're like, Spencer, don't make it. You make it too strong. And she's like, amateurs. I'm like, that is me and my household. Are you the

[00:09:34] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: one who makes bad coffee? I was, or

[00:09:36] ILISSA TENIO: it was, it's not bad. I just have a heavy hand.

[00:09:39] ILISSA TENIO: I have a heavy foot when I drive. I have a heavy hand when I make coffee. Wow. I like things strong. I mean, same. Also, to be fair, when I make coffee, usually it's at my sister's, and she buys folders, which like, folders in your cup? Folders in your cup. [00:10:00] As kids, that was all my mom drank. We grew up on Folgers.

[00:10:06] ILISSA TENIO: When you grow up and you have other coffee, you're like, other coffee is better than Folgers. But my mom has still always bought Folgers. And so, when my sister has my family over, she just buys Folgers. And I'm like, this is not good. So, I have to make it the way I want to make it. I put a little dash of cinnamon and they're like, it's so strong.

[00:10:24] ILISSA TENIO: I'm like, it's because you drink shit coffee. Anyone else? You

[00:10:29] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: said Folgers so many times and it's a really funny word when you keep saying it. Folgers. In your cup. I love cinnamon in, I do that in my grounds and some nutmeg a little bit.

[00:10:41] ILISSA TENIO: Your mom's not a coffee drinker, right? No, my dad wasn't either. Right, and I know Sam never, only started in her older age.

[00:10:48] ILISSA TENIO: Which she becomes a different person. So I was coffee did your parents buy, but they didn't. But

[00:10:53] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: on that note, my aunt drank Folgers.

[00:10:55] ILISSA TENIO: Always, and she always, she was a black coffee drinker,

[00:10:58] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: right? No, she had, she [00:11:00] always put, Uh, half and half. Oh, okay. The best. But, but, always Folgers, and so when my aunt would visit, we also bought Folgers.

[00:11:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And it's Does your parents keep

[00:11:08] ILISSA TENIO: it in the freezer? Um, in the fridge. Oh, okay. Mm

[00:11:12] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: hmm. Yeah,

[00:11:14] ILISSA TENIO: but you don't we don't my grandma did that too. She always kept in the fridge But like I know and she would always tell me like, oh, whatever was on sale I know she's like it was between that or Maxwell house. I'm like Maxwell, that's Dare you Anywho,

[00:11:30] ILISSA TENIO: I am the Spencer I make the dark coffee. Anyway, they head downstairs and their parents all of them Every single one, besides Hanna dad and Emily's dad, I guess, are there. Anyway, they're hosting an intervention because they're like, The girls, you need help. We don't know what happened. We hear what you're saying.

[00:11:51] ILISSA TENIO: Do they believe them? I'm not really sure.

[00:11:53] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: No, I don't think so. I think they're like, our kids need help and we need to intervene. Right. Like,

[00:11:58] ILISSA TENIO: do they think they're all on like group [00:12:00] drugs? Group drugs? Like, like they're all like dabbling, experimenting with like things and they're like, it's messing with them.

[00:12:06] ILISSA TENIO: They're hallucinating. Like, I don't know what these parents are thinking their kids are doing. Because if they don't believe them, then what do they think is happening?

[00:12:15] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I did not get the feeling they thought their kids were on group drugs. I actually don't know what a group drug

[00:12:20] ILISSA TENIO: is. I don't know. Like you get a little mushroom.

[00:12:23] ILISSA TENIO: You give someone a mushroom. They're just all... Like someone gets something and they all do it together is what I meant. Not like they're like... Eating the same edible or something. Sure.

[00:12:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Sure. Take a bite and pass. I, I just assumed like they were going through a lot. It's been a traumatic year. They just faced Ian hanging.

[00:12:43] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Right. Or shall we think? I don't think it's group drugs, but.

[00:12:47] ILISSA TENIO: Okay. Well, the parents don't know what to think. They think maybe the best solution is you guys need to see a therapist, a group therapist. They have group therapy together. This is weird. Do you think it's weird?

[00:12:59] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I [00:13:00] do. I, I was all about therapy. In our group chat, when we watched tonight, I put therapy, clap emoji.

[00:13:06] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yay. Yes, we need therapy. Maybe group session, but then we need private therapy because all these girls are codependent on each other and it's very obvious. So what is actually going to be said? Right.

[00:13:19] ILISSA TENIO: I don't know. It seems like, to me at least, that Spencer is like the leader of the group, right? She's the one who's like the mastermind, the one who tells them, yes, we can do this, no we can't do this, so she's become like the ringleader, and so I feel like whatever Spencer does, the other girls look around and they do it.

[00:13:35] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. And the therapist we meet, she catches on to that right away, and she's like, something is happening here, and the girls don't open up, none of them do, and by the time it's It's time for them to, the session is over. We meet their lovely therapist, which her name's funny, Ann Sullivan. Remember Helen Keller, her, what would you call [00:14:00] her?

[00:14:00] ILISSA TENIO: Her, I mean, she was a teacher. Yeah. Was, was Annie Sullivan. Weird, huh? Right. Oh, wow. Why, why they chose that? Is that a coincidence? I don't know. Oh,

[00:14:12] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: oh,

[00:14:13] ILISSA TENIO: oh. Blind

[00:14:14] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: and deaf. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Is she on

[00:14:17] ILISSA TENIO: the island? No. I like her. I love, I love this actress. I know you were

[00:14:20] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: saying that. Annabeth Gish. Yeah, I don't remember, you know, I don't recognize her, but you're like, you don't watch scary things, so you wouldn't.

[00:14:26] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: No, she's in like a

[00:14:27] ILISSA TENIO: lot of creepy things, and actually currently Randy and I are watching The Fall of the House of the Usher. Is it

[00:14:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: good? Because I wanted to watch it.

[00:14:35] ILISSA TENIO: Well, if you're going to want to watch that, you have to watch all Mike Flanagan shows because... Why? Because they're so fantastic! Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Blythe Manor.

[00:14:46] ILISSA TENIO: Midnight Mass. I did not watch the Midnight Club, but this one so far is really good. Well then you're not even obeying by your rule! Anyway, Spiraling tonight. Yeah. She's in that, and [00:15:00] I was like, oh my god, I forgot she's in this show. She's great. Later, they see their face in the newspaper, which there's this article about what the news thinks happened, that Ian ran off, he got money out of his account, and they found a suitcase with his car by the end of town, and they think the girls know something, had something to do with him running away.

[00:15:19] ILISSA TENIO: Obviously, we know what happens, but that's what the media is saying. So, to make matters worse for Spencer, her parents, obviously, as we said, feel like her and Toby need to stop hanging out because it's damaging her reputation, she's still a suspect in Ali's murder, which is crazy to me, and it seems like Toby's parents feel the same way because when she goes to see Toby, Jenna, the messenger, tells her, like, My parents don't want you to see him and closes the door on her

[00:15:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: face.

[00:15:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: That's Jenna. That's not Toby's parents. I want to see and meet Toby's parents. Yes. It seems that Jenna's in

[00:15:54] ILISSA TENIO: charge. It's Jenna runs the show. There are no parents. I don't remember. I think we [00:16:00] talked about this. I don't remember. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. There

[00:16:01] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: are no parents.

[00:16:02] ILISSA TENIO: They're made up. So Spencer's on edge.

[00:16:04] ILISSA TENIO: She heads back to the house to find Melissa talking to Garrett. And this is when Garrett tells her it's not a murder investigation, it's a missing person because there's no body. We'll figure this out. Please don't worry. Also, here's your phone that you left at the church. And Spencer's just like so infuriated because she's like, nobody is listening to me.

[00:16:24] ILISSA TENIO: Nobody believes me. I know what I saw. Words get thrown around. Heated, Spencer's like, you're not coming back. And then Spencer's mom's like. Get out of here. You're complicating the situation. How would you

[00:16:39] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: handle this if you were the

[00:16:40] ILISSA TENIO: mom? I would, I do, I do. Like, would you

[00:16:45] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: believe, like, okay, let's say it's your mom, it's you and Shanna.

[00:16:48] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Do you think your mom would side with you being the oldest who's pregnant? Or, the youngest to...

[00:16:53] ILISSA TENIO: I'd say so. Right? I know. I'd say so. As shitty as that is. Right. You know? Yeah. [00:17:00] It's terrible for Spencer. And Spencer's always the one getting herself in these situations. Yeah. The parents are kind of tired of it.

[00:17:08] ILISSA TENIO: It's always a jealousy thing. Maybe they thought she wanted the attention because Melissa's pregnant. I don't know what they're thinking. Yeah. Mike says, if our sisters told us that our husbands tried to kill them, what would we think and would we believe it? ,

[00:17:26] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: it's so hard to answer that because Sam and Ann are so close and for aunt, I would be like, what it they like if I heard that now?

[00:17:37] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, what if you heard that, like, when you guys first started dating? Yeah, I'd probably believe Sam. Yeah, I'd probably believe my sister, too. Yeah. In the beginning and Honestly, I would still believe her now. I mean, I would believe her over Randy. Yeah. You know, she's my bestie. Of course. And like I've been with her longer than I've been with him.

[00:17:57] ILISSA TENIO: So yeah, I think I know her [00:18:00] better. Right. Anyway, Melissa confides in Spencer later on. She's like, I know I wasn't listening before, but I want to listen now. What do you know? And Spencer's like, okay, what I'm saying is the truth. What I saw. And she's like, I just know Ian would never leave me. Never leave our baby.

[00:18:20] ILISSA TENIO: We even picked out a name. It's Taylor. It

[00:18:23] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: could work for a boy or a girl. It could work for a boy or a

[00:18:25] ILISSA TENIO: girl. And. Spencer's like, that's great. Nice name. Even though at this point she wants to go meet Toby, but Melissa's more important to her, so that's great. We don't see them have this chat, but you assume they work some things out.

[00:18:40] ILISSA TENIO: And then later that evening, Spencer is alone in an unlocked house. Even though she must not be alone, because I feel like Melissa's probably home if her phone's there, right? Or do you think we're

[00:18:52] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Uh, she's in the barn. Oh, maybe. Wasn't Alyssa living

[00:18:55] ILISSA TENIO: in the barn, her and Ian? Yes, her and Ian were living in the barn.

[00:18:57] ILISSA TENIO: The barn that Spencer fixed up for her to live [00:19:00] in. And then Alyssa and Ian moved in. Yes. Yeah, so she's in the house alone. It's dark. We have a jump scare. It's Toby. They finally can reunite with each other. And they hug and it's sweet. And she's just like, Oh, he's like, I needed to see you. And I love it. I love them so much.

[00:19:19] ILISSA TENIO: They are very cute. They're so sweet. They are very sweet. They feel like family. Yeah. Like with each other? Yeah. Yeah. Um, speaking of comfortable or not so much, we're going to get to Aria. Aw. Cause she makes her and Ezra so damn uncomfortable. It's not cozy. It's really ice

[00:19:39] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: cold. It's just, I don't need it. I think I spoke to you during all of their scenes.

[00:19:45] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And I was like, what's going on? And then you like summed it out. It's the same scene. It's like a break every time they're on the screen. It's like, oh, you could zone out. I feel

[00:19:52] ILISSA TENIO: the same way. You'll miss nothing. Yeah. What matters a little bit, I guess, is that Ella tells Aria that she's gonna be [00:20:00] moving back into the house.

[00:20:01] ILISSA TENIO: And I was talking to Michelle. I was like, um, honestly, I feel like her and Byron weren't on great terms when we left. So I'm surprised at that. Maybe I'm forgetting something in between. I'm

[00:20:11] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: so, okay, their relationship, and maybe you can't answer this, is it not a big part of the story anymore? But she comes back, the woman that he had the affair with, right?

[00:20:21] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: The teacher? Her name is Meredith. Yeah, okay. So she does come

[00:20:25] ILISSA TENIO: back. We don't know until, I mean, I know, but you don't know until what capacity she comes back. Right. It just

[00:20:31] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: seems like we are trying to fix with the parents because we're going to move on and just let them be. You know, it feels like they were just setting them up to like, Let's close that chapter.

[00:20:41] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah. I see. And let's just focus on the kids and what's going to happen. Yeah. And Mike, does he still exist?

[00:20:48] ILISSA TENIO: He does. Oh, okay. Yeah. I plead the fifth. Okay. Sure.

[00:20:51] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: The rest. Yeah, no, that's fine. That's fine.

[00:20:54] ILISSA TENIO: Uh, in Ezra's class. There were, uh, there was a hangman. Vic wants to know if we [00:21:00] played hangman in high school.

[00:21:01] ILISSA TENIO: I play it still in the shower. We have the thing that you got us. We play hangman with

[00:21:06] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: each other. Oh, I should get that again. We ran out of our notebook. We used to, we always used to play hangman. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah,

[00:21:12] ILISSA TENIO: um, yeah, we love hangman. Um, but the school and the kids clearly are like gossiping so much about them.

[00:21:20] ILISSA TENIO: Because nobody knows what to believe. And Ezra erases it on the chalkboard. And the one who knows too much, Noel Kahn, is back. He makes his appearance after being suspended. Noel

[00:21:35] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Kahn, I was not expecting you. But at the end of last season,

[00:21:39] ILISSA TENIO: Didn't we see him right in the crowd and

[00:21:42] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: we laughed about it because we're like, oh he just showed up No,

[00:21:46] ILISSA TENIO: it's so random I don't see it was just the one Shot of his face and that was it in the crowd.

[00:21:52] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, but he's back obviously Aria. The rest of the girls are on edge Aria and Ezra to refresh everyone's memory. [00:22:00] They've cooled things off a little bit because Aria can't trust Ezra because Ezra didn't tell her the truth about Jackie Molina who is his ex fiancé. Do we meet her? We met her briefly last season.

[00:22:14] ILISSA TENIO: No, but will we meet her more? Yes, we'll see her more. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Um, but she is Ezra's ex fiancé. She works at Hollis College. Right. Ezra got the job at Hollis College. He didn't tell Aria that. She was gonna be working there. It's sneaky, but he's like, please let's talk about it. I'm worried about you I miss you.

[00:22:33] ILISSA TENIO: I love you. And she's like things just feel different. It's just weird. He's like, please just come over later We can talk she does come over and it's the same scene every single episode with them It's like exhausting how they talk about their feelings and the same Are we gonna talk about the abs? Oh, of course we're gonna talk about the, the, the abs.

[00:22:58] ILISSA TENIO: Lack thereof abs, we had to add [00:23:00] abs unnecessarily. Abs? Abs ish? Ish. Spray painted abs. Right? That's what it was. That's what

[00:23:06] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: we were talking about when Nisty was going on. Liss mentioned the abs and that's all I could stare

[00:23:11] ILISSA TENIO: at. Yeah, Britt and I had an email going about Ezra's abs. Like, what was that about?

[00:23:18] ILISSA TENIO: If the man doesn't have abs, it's perfectly okay. He has a fine body. He's a very attractive man. Let's just, let him feel comfortable in his skin. We don't need to, unless he was like, Hey, you need to spray paint some abs on me. Oh, well, if that's the case, okay. Then don't let, then if a guy's not comfortable, then he doesn't have to be shirtless.

[00:23:35] ILISSA TENIO: And why did, why did Troian have to be shirtless? Oh, I did not like that. I did not like that at all. There was no reason for it.

[00:23:42] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: At all. Yeah. It led to nothing. And all it did was, she changed. The

[00:23:46] ILISSA TENIO: transition of her top.

[00:23:48] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Right. And for Melissa to be like, that's a nice top, you're not going to Emily's and that.

[00:23:53] ILISSA TENIO: We could have had her already in it. Yeah. And she could have said the same thing. Right. Anyway. Anyway. You know, I didn't, we didn't like either of those [00:24:00] things. However, in this scene, it's, there's, I guess there's like a glimmer of hope as there's like, oh, maybe we can work it out. I'm happy you're spending your Saturday with me.

[00:24:11] ILISSA TENIO: And then. When Arielle leaves, she gets a text from A that A has clearly been in his apartment and she looks for the spare key. It's gone. Because you don't keep a spare key under your frickin rug. In an apartment building. In an apartment building. When you have a watcher. You don't do that. At all times.

[00:24:28] ILISSA TENIO: You don't do that. Never. On to Hanna, I guess. Which, some exciting things. Yeah. And some sad things too, but yeah. So she's still dealing with the betrayal of Caleb. And as we know, Lucas has brought Caleb back into town to make things right with his Hattie. And he is like, don't mess with her again, because I'll come for you.

[00:24:50] ILISSA TENIO: Caleb's like, I got it, dude, we're good. He does go to apologize. He's like, I can, let me make it up to you. Like, what can I do? I love you. He, he [00:25:00] tells her he loves her for real. You know, because she didn't get to read the letter and in the letter he says, I love you. I just love

[00:25:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: that he was waiting with Hanna

[00:25:08] ILISSA TENIO: mom.

[00:25:09] ILISSA TENIO: Drinking his diet coke.

[00:25:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Her mom really gained a soft spot for him. She really did. And the fact that she was sitting with him warmed my heart. He's so cute. I just want to let y'all know like the whole time like, Oh my God, he's so cute. I'm so cute. And then Liz sees Mr. Hastings and I was like, do you still have the zaddy for him?

[00:25:30] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And she's like, wait for it. And it's just him closing the door and we get like a quick shot and she goes, yum. I was like, no.

[00:25:42] ILISSA TENIO: I said all of this will change when Jason comes next week, because I'll be good. My cap will be full, the thirst will be thirsty. I can't

[00:25:54] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: even paint a picture of what's to come, but anyway, Caleb, I love Caleb. [00:26:00] He looked

[00:26:00] ILISSA TENIO: very nice. I feel like I'm really overhyping him, and I hope you're imagining you're like, I don't think he's that cute.

[00:26:06] ILISSA TENIO: We shall see.

[00:26:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: We'll see. He looked really cute in

[00:26:09] ILISSA TENIO: the denim. Yeah, I love that denim thing. I loved it. Or whatever it

[00:26:13] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: was, but

[00:26:14] ILISSA TENIO: anyway. Anyway, so she's like, I love what you're saying. I believe what you're saying. I just can't accept it. Like I can't forgive you because I'll always think about how you used me.

[00:26:26] ILISSA TENIO: And he's like, goodbye, Hanna. And Michelle's

[00:26:31] ILISSA TENIO: like, what, is that the end of Caleb on the island? No, he's not on the island. Oh my God, you really teased me. You were like, I was like, I don't say them when I don't say anything. She's like, come on. I know. No, are you kidding? Because it's like. I was like, ask me on the podcast, I'll confirm. You did not tell me to do that.

[00:26:48] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. Okay, fair. So he's, he's staying, sticking around. Okay. But Hanna does go to see Mona, cause she's like, what the hell? Yeah. You did this to me. I can never, like, this [00:27:00] hurts more than what Caleb did. And then boom, walks in Noel freaking Khan, and they kiss!

[00:27:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: That was quick. He's back for five seconds, and he's dating Mona.

[00:27:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah. He wasn't dating her before, because Not that we know of. Nolkan was dating Aria, kind of, with the whole guitar moment in that room,

[00:27:19] ILISSA TENIO: right? Yeah, they were cute for like one second. It was normal. It was normal. Healthier than the Estra situation. It was healthy. Yeah, okay. Well, the listeners want to know, do you think that Hana will forgive Caleb?

[00:27:33] ILISSA TENIO: Yes. Will Hana forgive Mona?

[00:27:35] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I, yeah, I do. I don't think Hanna really holds grudges, even though right now she's holding like a very long grudge. But I think she will forgive in time.

[00:27:45] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. What do you think about Nolan Mona? I have

[00:27:49] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: no idea, but like, this is, are you liking it? No, is it cute? No, no, it's not cute.

[00:27:53] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I like Mona because she's sassy and stirs the pot and no con. I don't know how I feel about no [00:28:00] con. Although he could stir the

[00:28:02] ILISSA TENIO: pot too. Both of them are like king and queen of that. And

[00:28:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: like, is he going to tell her about. Aria and Ezra? She's like the queen

[00:28:13] ILISSA TENIO: gossip. She'll love that. He could be king gossip too.

[00:28:17] ILISSA TENIO: He could be worse than her. Way worse. Yeah, we'll see how that unfolds. Yeah, that's exciting, actually. Kathleen wants to know, out of the three Mona moments in this episode, which was the best Mona moment? Mona calling out the gossipers, Mona being called out for the letter with Caleb, or Mona and Noel?

[00:28:37] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I think, honestly, her calling out the gossipers in the beginning, that was pretty great.

[00:28:42] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah,

[00:28:42] ILISSA TENIO: she was a good friend to her. Right. She's like, oh,

[00:28:45] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: move along. I mean, her outfit was atrocious.

[00:28:49] ILISSA TENIO: Can we talk about that for a moment? Lots of stripes going on in this episode. Just her...

[00:28:54] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Like the over piece and then the big belt and then it

[00:28:58] ILISSA TENIO: was like off centered It [00:29:00] was very and then she's wearing a red bra and I'm like, what is happening here?

[00:29:03] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, that's fashion.

[00:29:06] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: That's a moment right there. The outfit alone is

[00:29:09] ILISSA TENIO: a moment. Yeah. Yeah, the fashion in this episode was very 2011 but like at the circus Yeah. Yeah. Alright, lastly, we have to talk about Emily. We have Pam. We obviously know she had told Emily that they're going to stay in Texas for a year with Wayne.

[00:29:28] ILISSA TENIO: I don't believe it. You don't believe it? You still don't? People want to know. Do you believe Emily's going? Sorry, I didn't mean to

[00:29:34] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: like interrupt. That's alright. I kind of like feel like you don't want to waste time on this. Right. Not that we don't need to talk about, but I'm like, oh, this isn't going to happen.

[00:29:41] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Right.

[00:29:41] ILISSA TENIO: We're in season two of the, of a seven show, a seven season show.

[00:29:44] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Right. It just ties in the A in the realtor situation.

[00:29:48] ILISSA TENIO: Right, yeah. Yeah, exactly. So, we know Emily is heartbroken, she thinks she's moving, and then we have this realtor coming and inspecting the house, telling her all these things that need to go, and she [00:30:00] has this really sweet moment with her and Toby, which we loved so much, where Toby's like, you can't get rid of...

[00:30:05] ILISSA TENIO: The height chart painted on her wall and he's like, let me help you. And he's pulling it down for her. So sweet. And they rekindled their friendship and he's like, we'll be friends. Like whenever, like we got back into the groove, we'll do it again. Like, don't worry. Yeah. It was, I just, uh, do we ship them? Is they,

[00:30:23] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: yes.

[00:30:23] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Do we have a name

[00:30:24] ILISSA TENIO: for them? Temelie?

[00:30:31] ILISSA TENIO: Temelie? Um, Emobie? Emobie? It's okay, work in progress. You guys let us know. We love their friendship though. Anyway, it was so, so sweet. Yeah. We loved it. Yeah. Okay, so the girls decide they want to tell Dr. Sullivan what is happening because of Hippoth. She can't tell anyone unless they're an endanger to themselves or someone else.

[00:30:50] ILISSA TENIO: It's okay, she can, she won't tell anyone anything. So they make this plan, they're going to head to the office, show her tapes of Ian [00:31:00] and, you know, everything to prove that there's motive here. And they go to the office and the girls are about to spill the beans and then Spencer sees Ezra's... Uh, what is that?

[00:31:12] ILISSA TENIO: A, uh, Diploma. Diploma. Thank you. I could not think of the word. His diploma from Hollis College. And they're like, uh, A has been here. It's tainted. We gotta go. And the therapist is like, what is happening? And You know, at this point, Aria's like, Shit, I guess I gotta tell Ezra to change locks. Yeah,

[00:31:33] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: how do you do that?

[00:31:34] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: You can't. Unless they break in and do it.

[00:31:37] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, like mess with the lock somehow and be like, Oh, I guess you gotta change your locks. Yeah. Also just how weird that

[00:31:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: A broke into the therapist's office or maybe is a patient of hers. Put that diploma up there. But I guess it seems like she shares this office space.

[00:31:59] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Because when [00:32:00] she was leaving, there was a bunch of names on the doors. Also, there's like a bunch of diplomas. There

[00:32:04] ILISSA TENIO: was. So maybe she wouldn't even notice. She didn't notice. Who Ezra is. It's interesting, because Mike wants to know, do you think A is a patient? Right. Well. Of this therapist, or at least someone in the building.

[00:32:15] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah,

[00:32:16] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: absolutely. I do.

[00:32:19] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. So, after all that, Dr. Sullivan's like, listen, I think all the girls are going to benefit from therapy. However, not group therapy One on one because as we said, they're very codependent on each other and also they probably shouldn't really be hanging out that much because in times like this people You know, grouped together and their reality becomes blurred because of the loss and the grieving and Um, so all the girls are basically told like hey, you guys can't hang out together and they're upset and pissed because they're like what?

[00:32:53] ILISSA TENIO: Which i'm like as a parent not that I am one like that makes sense to me I guess

[00:32:57] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: but these I don't know. It's not like these parents don't [00:33:00] know these girls. Right. their best friends away in high school, how are you going to make them not talk to

[00:33:05] ILISSA TENIO: each other in school? Right? Like their, their junior year of high school.

[00:33:08] ILISSA TENIO: It's detrimental. Like, I

[00:33:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: have to go to therapy. Just go separately.

[00:33:13] ILISSA TENIO: Right. Yeah. Yeah. Or just like limit your time. Like, you don't have to completely cut them off, but like, how about we have more family time focusing on like sibling time or like, you know, things like that. Not completely cutting them off from their lives.

[00:33:29] ILISSA TENIO: So, we'll see how that goes. The last scene of the episode, we have, um, well actually, no, I forgot about Dr. Sullivan. She feels like someone's watching her, and then we see someone is watching her. That

[00:33:42] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: was really creepy. I actually thought she was going to get murdered.

[00:33:45] ILISSA TENIO: Same. I was like, did she get murdered here?

[00:33:48] ILISSA TENIO: We

[00:33:48] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: are starting this season with a new murder. Yeah. Even though it's

[00:33:51] ILISSA TENIO: always a... I feel like that would be good because honestly this episode was pretty lackluster. It was so lackluster.

[00:33:57] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: We got nothing except for [00:34:00] baby to come's name.

[00:34:00] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, basically. Spencer finds Melissa's phone that has gone off. It went, was in the couch cushion and the text says, Melissa, it's not safe.

[00:34:10] ILISSA TENIO: Can't talk yet. Um, so is this from Ian? We don't know. And so when Spencer sees this, she's like SOS to all the girls. They meet in this like random greenhouse, I guess, in Spencer's backyard. Yeah, where to ask you about that. I don't know where this is. Uh, on the Hastings property, I guess. Yeah. And the text says, You know, she says, how do I know this is you?

[00:34:35] ILISSA TENIO: And they say, please ask me anything. And then Spencer says, I got the question. What were you going to name your potential baby? And the girls go, what's the name? And she says, Taylor. And then text comes in and it says, Taylor. I'm like, hello. Hello. Shut up first. Then we can see if this person responds.

[00:34:59] ILISSA TENIO: [00:35:00] Taylor.

[00:35:00] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I also felt that A is always watching. A knew Spencer was going to pick up the phone and this is like a trap.

[00:35:08] ILISSA TENIO: Right. So. Mm hmm. And our final scene is A, as we said, going through Emily's house and then deleting all of the video footage she has on her hard drive. So that's great. That was so

[00:35:22] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: creepy to have the realtor Be like, oh yes, come through, look at this bedroom.

[00:35:29] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah. I mean, they're acting as, A was acting as a potential

[00:35:32] ILISSA TENIO: buyer of the home. Right. What does that tell you about A then? I don't know. It could mean like so many things. Well. To me. Like my brain, because I know who it is, so my brain is like, huh.

[00:35:43] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Interesting. Like to me, that makes it an

[00:35:44] ILISSA TENIO: adult. Right. That's what I mean.

[00:35:46] ILISSA TENIO: Like that would make it someone who's worthy of buying, or maybe, maybe not. Or, it's. A kid. Maybe someone came, maybe they came in together with someone else. And also,

[00:35:58] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Realtor, you don't think it's [00:36:00] weird, one, that the computer's open, and two, they're wearing a freaking glove and a black hood? Unless the Realtor is all part of a scheme, like, they're all working

[00:36:09] ILISSA TENIO: together?

[00:36:12] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I don't think it's that, because that would make sense, and I don't think by now the writers know. Yeah. Or maybe the writers do know. The writers do know. I, I don't know why I can't remember when you tell me the writers do know who

[00:36:24] ILISSA TENIO: their A is or not. I think at this point the writers know the books.

[00:36:28] ILISSA TENIO: Because of the books. Not every I'm sorry. They don't know everything. They have a very good idea of what's gonna happen in this season from the books. Yeah. Okay. And that's all I have to say. Kat wants to know, what are you most looking forward to in this season? Uh, surface

[00:36:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: level, Caleb.

[00:36:51] ILISSA TENIO: All the ships. Also surface level.

[00:36:53] ILISSA TENIO: Not all the ships. Jason.

[00:36:55] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And his arrival and who this

[00:36:57] ILISSA TENIO: is. Oh, I hope you're not [00:37:00] disappointed. I might

[00:37:00] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: be. I don't think you will be. No, no, no. Um, as long as he's charming and funny and nice to look at and not cringey. No. Uh, no. Okay. A little bit more mystery and I hope we just get a little bit more. I would also really like to figure out if Ian is actually dead or alive.

[00:37:18] ILISSA TENIO: I can tell you by the end of the season, you will know that Ian is dead or alive. Then.

[00:37:22] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: That's great. That's my

[00:37:23] ILISSA TENIO: expectation. Yeah. That's what would make sense. That's how we're opening the season, is he dead or alive. By the end of the season, you should know if he's dead or alive.

[00:37:30] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: That would be great. That would be great.

[00:37:31] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. All right. We're going to take a really short break, and when we come back, we're going to do some fun things. Yay! Why not? Yay!

[00:37:44] ILISSA TENIO: To open up season one, I thought to go with Ben and Jerry's s'more please Toast and marshmallow ice cream with graham cracker swirls and chocolate chip cookies Like the swirls of graham crackers the lives of the liars are once again [00:38:00] swirling downwards poor Hanna has to reopen the wound in her heart and face Caleb, Toby is told to stay away from Spencer, and the Liars are told to spend time apart.

[00:38:11] ILISSA TENIO: Unlike the Ice Cream, there are no gooey, toasted marshmallows in their lives to help cushion the blow. Like Ice Cream, this episode leaves us wanting more. More PLL. More sketchy Tim Riggins. More Jenna. And most importantly, more Azaria. Most importantly.

[00:38:29] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Most importantly. That was good. Definitely want some more.

[00:38:32] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I definitely want some

[00:38:33] ILISSA TENIO: more. We want some more. I think so. Yeah. It was a little meh

[00:38:39] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: overall. Yeah. I guess it's just like getting our

[00:38:41] ILISSA TENIO: feet wet. Yeah. But by then, this finale is a good finale. Season 2? Season 2 finale, good finale. I'll just give you that to get excited. How many episodes do you have? 25. Oh my gosh.

[00:38:53] ILISSA TENIO: 25 episodes. 25 weeks. But like, when you think about it, it's going to go so quick. So quick.

[00:38:58] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I can't believe we're [00:39:00] here. I know. I mean, this went

[00:39:01] ILISSA TENIO: really quick. It really did. Yeah. I think it's time for a little... Roll call? Roll call? I have

[00:39:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: to come up with something. You

[00:39:11] ILISSA TENIO: will. I know you have it in you. Thank you, thank you, thank

You can do, uh, that via if you want to send it through an email, but it'll be easy if you just send it to our phone number, which is 631 600 [00:42:00] 3916. She's got it. We're good. Anyway.

[00:42:05] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: We can like come up with a cheer, like.

[00:42:09] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I know we have a lot of ideas for it, but a lot

[00:42:12] ILISSA TENIO: of things are on the season two. We have like a lot of ideas. We like took away some things and we're adding so many more things. So many more things. We'll see what

[00:42:19] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: actually happens.

[00:42:20] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. Uh, what about a little MVP in Chidius? What do you think? Okay. I, um. My shittiest, like, I feel like there's so many, I feel like I didn't like anyone particularly in this episode.

[00:42:32] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah, my

[00:42:33] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: shittiest, I chose

[00:42:34] ILISSA TENIO: Mona, actually. Mona, good choice. I chose Garrett because he seemed like... What is his deal? You know what's funny is when they said the Jason thing, I was like, what is the Jason thing? Like, I'm like, what happens there? Memory. I remember some things about, like, Jenna and Garrett and Jason and...

[00:42:56] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. But, yeah, [00:43:00] not much. What was your MVP? You wanna do it on three? I just had shittiest. Okay, I picked Toby.

[00:43:07] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Oh, that's a really good one. Yeah, because I feel

[00:43:10] ILISSA TENIO: like really good. Obviously, he's such a great friend. He comes through for Spencer in the end. I just love him. He's like, I'm never doing anything to hurt Spencer.

[00:43:19] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah,

[00:43:19] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: that's I'm just laughing at because like for MVP, I put, Oh my God, Caleb and denim and four exclamation points. And we can't. The girl wants what the girl wants. Yeah. But he cannot be MBP. He didn't really do much. He explained love. He

[00:43:34] ILISSA TENIO: explained love. Well, he explained and he also like apologized again, like understood where he came from.

[00:43:40] ILISSA TENIO: Off wrong and accepted the fact that Hanna wouldn't forgive him. He's like, okay, like I'm not gonna plead here I'm gonna go. I'm respecting your decision. Toby's a really good one though. Thank you. Thank y'all. We decided to do a fun something for the new season. We're gonna try it out for season two.

[00:43:55] ILISSA TENIO: We'll call it a cringe o meter. Gonna have to put a graphic in for that. [00:44:00] Cringe o meter. Which out of ten we're gonna rate how cringe This episode was if you guys can think of a better name for cringe o meter because like how many times in one episode could one say Cringe to describe something that is cringe But when it comes to pretty little liars It's a lot of cringe.

[00:44:21] ILISSA TENIO: I would say the cringe the cringy parts for me Definitely were obviously like the two shirtless people didn't need to be in there But other than that, it was like a pretty even keeled like not so We're doing this out of 10. Out of 10. To me, I would say this is like a 2 3. So 10 being the most cringe.

[00:44:45] ILISSA TENIO: Yeah. Yeah, I'd say so too. Because

[00:44:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: of the whole shortlist, like we both agreed on that, but it

[00:44:49] ILISSA TENIO: really... It really like kept its even keel. I'm feeling so bad. It really was okay. This one, actually. It really was okay. So we'll give it maybe 2. 5? Yeah, I like that. Okay. [00:45:00] 2. 5. You let us know what you would choose do.

[00:45:02] ILISSA TENIO: Is there

[00:45:03] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: like currency in Rosewood or like some kind of like 2.5 like roses or something? I was was gonna say like black gloves or black gloves. We have to think of a currency. Mm.

[00:45:16] ILISSA TENIO: All right. Before you predict our listener, Kate. Had sent over a little game, which I might incorporate from now on. It's kind of fun.

[00:45:24] ILISSA TENIO: Okay, it's called a or nay Oh, I know. So I'll read off some like sketchy scenarios in this episode You simply just eat if you think it has to do with a or not to do with a so obviously a or nay Okay, so Garrett convincing the liars not to tell the police about the videos a or nay nay Jenna lurking on a street corner in the middle of the night.

[00:45:48] ILISSA TENIO: Nay. The therapist's recommendation that the liars should stop spending time together. Ay. The text sent to Melissa's phone. Ay. Noel Khan and Mona out for a date at the Apple Rose Grill. Nay. [00:46:00] The alleged return of Jason DeLaurentis. A. Jenna and Garrett stake out at the DeLaurentis house. A. Melissa trying to make nice with her sister and asking her to repeat her story in detail.

[00:46:13] ILISSA TENIO: I struggle with this one

[00:46:15] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: because I'm

[00:46:15] ILISSA TENIO: like, Melissa, are you lying? She seems sketchy, right? But also...

[00:46:21] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: She seems like you would have to be like a really good actress.

[00:46:30] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: A adjacent.

[00:46:34] ILISSA TENIO: Toby and Jenna being in town at the same time the girls are when they got out of their therapy session. What a good one. Nay. The fact that Ezra has a master's degree in English from Hollis College, but seemingly does not know Byron, who was a professor in that very department at that very school before the start of the series.

[00:46:54] ILISSA TENIO: That's a good pickup. Really good. That's a nay mistake. That's a nay [00:47:00] mistake. Nay. Nay. That's the writer's made a boo boo. Yeah. Yeah. Or is it? Yeah. Yeah. I love this game and I think I might incorporate it because that's really fun. So good. Thank you. Speaking of Kate, who was our A from last season. Yes. We got a random email from A at Rosewood PA today stating that, you know, just because Kate was the first A doesn't mean there's going to be another one.

[00:47:23] ILISSA TENIO: And there was

[00:47:23] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: some, uh, tasteful graphics

[00:47:26] ILISSA TENIO: attached. It was, uh, our, our faces from the masks. On a person. So it's kind of funny. Who's that person?

[00:47:37] ILISSA TENIO: I don't know.

[00:47:40] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Oh my god. Well, it's just like it's the only blonde It's Hanna,

[00:47:45] ILISSA TENIO: right? You're like

[00:47:47] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: go with that

[00:47:49] ILISSA TENIO: or it is Meredith or

[00:47:53] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Meredith who's all the blondes

[00:47:55] ILISSA TENIO: who are all there's so many more people to come [00:48:00] Blonde is a very, uh, prominent theme. Cause right now it's not very

[00:48:04] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: prominent. You'll see. It's just Hanna, and it's Hanna and Meredith.

[00:48:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And that's it. Am I forgetting any other blondes right now? Oh, and Ally.

[00:48:15] ILISSA TENIO: Oh, it's probably Ally. Imagine if she's not dead. I honestly

[00:48:21] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: don't know. Imagine if she's not

[00:48:23] ILISSA TENIO: dead. Imagine. Imagine. What would that mean for the, for the show? So much. Yeah, that would be really messed up. Anywho. Anywho. So the title for next week and my secret to share.

[00:48:37] ILISSA TENIO: Are you ready? Yes. So 2 2 is titled The Goodbye Look. And my secret. The secret. I've got a secret. Is that Emily gets approached by a scout for swimming at a college next week. Oh.

[00:48:57] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: So maybe that's why we don't move. [00:49:00] Maybe. Because we have to train at home, and we decide, you know what, Pops? This is better for Emily to stay close.

[00:49:10] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Wait, where's, what's her face? Where's the hasty? Paige?

[00:49:14] ILISSA TENIO: Is, is Paige gone? Paige McCullers? No, she's not gone. I didn't, couldn't think so. Paige McCullers. Oh my god. I feel like, well as we remember last season, Paige and Emily cooled it off because Paige was like, I'm not ready for this. She wasn't ready. Then Samira, Samara, the girl, she came in.

[00:49:35] ILISSA TENIO: With the jewelry. With the jewelry. So, she's on next week's episode. Oh, she is. Not Paige. Samara. Samara.

[00:49:42] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Yeah. Okay,

[00:49:43] ILISSA TENIO: cool. And what else do you think is going to happen next week?

[00:49:46] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Um, well, you know, selfishly. Mischief. I feel that, uh, I hope we see Caleb and we can get a little bit of a reunion happening. He tries.

[00:49:58] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: Maybe Lucas will speak on [00:50:00] his behalf. To Hanna. Be like, hey, he's actually a really good guy. Give him a chance. And Jason. Jason. Truly is the only thing that matters for

[00:50:11] ILISSA TENIO: next week. Oh, yeah.

[00:50:15] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I have

[00:50:15] ILISSA TENIO: high hopes now. Oof. God. That's a lot of pressure I just put on myself. Yeah, girl. I did. I put it in a lot there, but I think it's gonna pan out for the best.

[00:50:25] ILISSA TENIO: I mean, you...

[00:50:27] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: I've talked very highly of him. And Britt, I remember when Britt was a guest, Patron Britt, and she, you guys were talking about Jason and Code, and I was like, okay, I can't wait to experience the Jason

[00:50:39] ILISSA TENIO: thing. As you will. As I will. And that's, that's our first episode, season two. It was a mess, but you love it.

[00:50:50] ILISSA TENIO: wasn't a mess. XOXO. It wasn't a mess. No, just like the, I remember when we first, when we did our [00:51:00] pilot episode and it was like, I just felt like I was like, Ooh, like, I don't know. You know what? You get the excitement, the

[00:51:08] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: anticipation. I think when you're in the driver's seat, you always feel it's worse than it really is.

[00:51:15] MICHELLE RUBINSTEIN: And then the person who's your co pilot is like, what you're talking about was perfect. Almost every episode of Talkin Texas, I was like, what a mess. I'm up late. I can't fall asleep. I was like, it's fine. And you're like, what are you talking

[00:51:24] ILISSA TENIO: about? Yeah. And we, you know, the power of editing is magic. So, anywho, we'll be back next week.

[00:51:33] ILISSA TENIO: Season two, episode two, the goodbye look. Can't wait. Here we go. We're in the Just in the, what is it? Thick of it? the thick of it. Okay.
