[00:00:50] LISS: Rich and daily in God We lust. Just epic. We loved our girl chat on all things p [00:01:00] lll crushes, wild storylines. Her and I had some telepathy while remembering things that happened in the future to come. Um, Interesting stuff. So thank you so much to Brooke for joining us. [00:01:18] LISS: The links for her socials will be of course, in the description for the episode. Definitely check her out and tell her we said hello and on to the show.

[00:01:34] LISS: Welcome. Back to We Are Liars podcast Pretty Little Liars podcast obviously. I'm Lisa. I'm Michelle and you guys already know that. But this evening we are joined by Brooke Siffrinn, a PLL Stan as she says. So we're so happy to have you. Welcome to our show.

[00:01:57] Brooke: Oh my gosh, thank you so much for having me. It's, [00:02:00] this was so nice to like re-watch Pretty Little Liars.

[00:02:02] Brooke: Like I didn't know how much I needed to re-watch it, you know?

[00:02:05] LISS: Oh yeah. Ugh. I'm so happy that you did rewatch. Do you re you rewatched the whole first season? I

[00:02:10] Brooke: did, and I'm gonna keep going. So yeah,

[00:02:14] LISS: please update us with your thoughts, like up, like your, you know, Yeah. 30 something year old thoughts, you know, like, yeah,

[00:02:25] Brooke: yeah.

[00:02:26] Brooke: 30 something. We'll leave it right there. 30 Something like this is so sad. My husband's like, you're watching this again. Huh? It's like, sure am. Did your

[00:02:32] MICH: have your husband watch with you before?

[00:02:34] Brooke: No. It's funny because when I, so I started watching it later than it came out. I wanna say I started watching it maybe around 2013.

[00:02:44] Brooke: Okay. So a couple years after it started. And him and I were just dating at the time and I was living alone in my apartment. And I would watch Pretty Little Liars till like four in the morning for some reason and scare myself. Like, I was like, what is your problem, lady? And I [00:03:00] would send him a text and be like, oh my God.

[00:03:01] Brooke: I'm like scaring the shit outta myself. And he's like, do you wanna come over? I was like, no, no, no. I'm just gonna continue to be scared. I'll sleep with a knife under my pillow like I'm an adult, but you know,

[00:03:10] LISS: whatever. It does have creepy tones. There are undertones of creep. Not, I mean, definitely in the first season, but I feel like as the show goes on, it just gets obviously way more whacked, but also scarier.

[00:03:23] LISS: Yes, it definitely scarier. It does, yeah. Yeah. And Michelle doesn't like dolls, and I had pre-warned her that there are lots of dolls in the show. Yeah. So, yeah, spoiling it becomes a thing. It does for sure. It becomes a thing. All right. So your journey 2013, what made you decide you were going to watch the show?

[00:03:41] LISS: So I

[00:03:42] Brooke: had just moved to la. I moved to LA mid 2012, and I didn't have like Hulu or, well, actually I must have had Hulu. I had to watch this somewhere, but I only had. Like Hulu, I didn't have cable or anything, so I was always looking for new shows to watch and binge. So [00:04:00] shows that had several seasons and it just looked up my alley and I started it and I was immediately hooked because I love escape rooms and things like that.

[00:04:08] Brooke: So like, this is just so fun. Like it's, there's clues, there's like crime. I just loved it. It was. It just spoke to me and I never stopped.

[00:04:18] LISS: Yeah, and it hooks you. It hooks you. It does. In the first episode where they all get the text that, you know, yep. AED is around and Allie is Uhhuh, maybe not dead. And you're like, wait, what's happening here?

[00:04:31] LISS: I wanna know so much more. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So have you just watched it one time? Through or you have binged it multiple times. Only one time through.

[00:04:41] Brooke: So this is my, this is my second binge and I was wondering like, cuz it's been a couple years since I watched it and I was like, am I gonna feel like watching it again and you're not wrong.

[00:04:52] Brooke: Like it hooked me again the first episode. I was like, God, this show is just good. I just love this show. So, yes. [00:05:00]

[00:05:00] MICH: And you finished the

[00:05:00] Brooke: series? I finished the series the first time. Yeah. You did? Yes. So I've watched it

[00:05:04] MICH: the whole way through. Yeah. So like, okay, obviously I don't know anything, right? Yeah. And so going back.

[00:05:10] MICH: Can you pick up clues and you're like, oh, this makes so much, or is this show like so whack that you can't do that? Because that's what I've heard. It's crazy.

[00:05:18] Brooke: It is really crazy. It's interesting you ask that because I'm of course watching it from the mindset of like, well I know how this whole thing ends.

[00:05:24] Brooke: Mm-hmm. And I think they do a really good job of like keeping you in the dark even. Like there's stuff I forgot about obviously cuz it's been like a couple years and I'm like, oh my God, I don't remember that happening. And like some stuff makes a tiny bit of sense, but not a lot of it. I'll be really honest with you.

[00:05:41] Brooke: Like at least to me, so,

[00:05:43] LISS: yeah. I don't know. Right. And I feel like there's so much that happens in the seven seasons that even a clue that you're gonna get right now in season one. Yeah. Probably doesn't matter. By the end of the show, you know? Yep. That's [00:06:00] fair. Yeah. Like they, they keep opening and introducing storylines and then most of them, they'll close and then they'll open some more and then close, and then like the, without obviously giving too much away, but there's like a bigger picture to all of it, but it kind of doesn't really matter.

[00:06:18] LISS: Right. Like, yeah. You know what you've learned. It's all like, I know. I'm like confusing the first time

[00:06:25] MICH: I'm hearing that Liz. Really? Yeah. That there's like a bigger situation. There's just,

[00:06:30] LISS: well, the entity of a, like you obviously I know that. I know that. Yeah. For seven seasons they had to keep you going with that, so we had to keep true.

[00:06:41] LISS: Developing it a little bit more and a little bit more. Yeah. There's a

[00:06:44] Brooke: lot of times where you like, think you know where something's going. And then it's just absolutely not going there. Exactly. And it does that several times throughout the series, so. Mm-hmm. You'd be

[00:06:56] LISS: on your toes. Yep. Oh

[00:06:58] Brooke: yeah.

[00:06:59] MICH: Yeah,

[00:06:59] LISS: [00:07:00] for sure.

[00:07:00] LISS: Do you have a favorite character?

[00:07:04] Brooke: I had a feeling you were gonna ask me that, and I was like, this is so hard to answer because I'm obviously in love with a different like guy. Every different, like every episode I'm like, like when k cuz Caleb comes in. Later than the others. And I'm just like, oh my God, I forgot how much I love Caleb.

[00:07:21] Brooke: And it's funny cuz I was watching it this weekend and Arisha and I were hanging out and I said something about how hot Caleb is. And she's like, are you kidding me? He's not hot at all. And I was like, I'm sorry. I was like, let's get you to the eye doctor lady. I was like, first of all, it's like Caleb as a whole is just so sexy to me.

[00:07:38] Brooke: Mm-hmm.

[00:07:39] LISS: Yeah. It's because he is confident. But he is, yeah, he has that bad boy persona, but he's. Yes. True, bad boy. Yeah. It's

[00:07:48] Brooke: like the bad boy with a heart of gold. Yes. Like how can you not love that? You

[00:07:51] LISS: know? Yeah. He's perfect in every way. He really is. Also, it,

[00:07:55] MICH: we felt like it was slim pickings, like Noel Khan for like a hot second.

[00:07:59] MICH: Yeah.

[00:07:59] Brooke: [00:08:00] Hot second. Yeah. What do you guys think of

[00:08:01] LISS: Ezra? He is cute, but because he's Ezra fits, it's really. Starting to get to wear us down. I think with Ian Harding, like Ian Harding adorable in person. Like a sweet person. Yes. But Ezra is like, ugh. You know, because of the situation. And obviously like the listeners know how we feel about this.

[00:08:23] LISS: I don't need to get get into it too much, but if you wanna weigh your opinion on Ezra, we certainly can do. Absolutely. No, I'm, I'm

[00:08:33] Brooke: with you. It, it does get to a point where it's like, this is weird, but he is attractive. Yeah. So it's like I could see being a student being like, oh, okay. Absolutely. You know for sure.

[00:08:43] Brooke: Yeah. Yeah. But, oh my God, yes. Yeah. I get what you're saying for sure. I, I can agree with

[00:08:48] LISS: that. Yeah. It just made him like it just. It makes, makes him a little, a little less attractive, I dunno. Yeah, no. Even though he's an attractive person. And then we have Toby, [00:09:00] I mean, Toby, Toby,

[00:09:01] Brooke: Toby. This the slow burn of Toby.

[00:09:04] Brooke: You know, it's funny cuz watching it again, I was like, well, the first time I watched it I was like, did I ever think Toby was a bad guy? Or did I always like sympathize with him? Mm-hmm. Because like watching it now, I'm like, well I know Toby's a good guy. Like I know what happens like with him and and Spencer.

[00:09:21] Brooke: And so I'm like, obviously I'm like rooting for him from the beginning, but I can't remember if I was the first time I watched it.

[00:09:27] LISS: Yeah. I remember watching that scene in the prom episode. Yeah. Yeah. Where he does go into the lab with Emily. Mm-hmm. And I remember thinking like, oh, this is like not good.

[00:09:41] LISS: Yeah. But not. Scared of him. Just thinking like, this guy's misunderstood. Maybe he. Great. And then this time around remembering obviously what happens with him. I'm like, oh my God, no, he's partless. Don't I know, you know?

[00:09:55] Brooke: I know. I love Toby. It's weird. Weird because like the older I've [00:10:00] gotten, the more appreciation I have for like those just sweet, really nice ride or die guys watching it the second time, I'm like, Is Lucas kind of cute?

[00:10:09] Brooke: It's like so weird. Cause the first time I was like, oh, Lucas like the, the nerdy friend. But I'm like, you know what? I love Lucas. He's just so

[00:10:16] LISS: sweet. Like, but that's weird. He would, would be a really good partner. He would definitely,

[00:10:21] Brooke: yeah. I'm like that. Heck, he's a rider or die. You know, I, I have a lot of love for Lucas, so, yeah, it's really funny watching it.

[00:10:27] Brooke: Again, like several years later and like where I'm at in my life compared to where I was when I first watched it.

[00:10:32] LISS: So yeah. Fun. Would you say that Hannah and Caleb are your favorite ship? Yes. Ah,

[00:10:39] Brooke: oh, because I, I just remembered Spencer and Toby. I, yeah. I think Hannah and Caleb are probably, if I had to choose a favorite couple, I think for.

[00:10:48] Brooke: It'd probably

[00:10:48] MICH: be those two. That's wild to me because we're only in season one, which means we're doomed because like if this is, we're getting this now and we're, and because of how this season ended and mm-hmm. [00:11:00]With Caleb coming back and I wanna see him and Hannah reunited. Yeah. Also, I found out a

[00:11:04] LISS: spoiler.

[00:11:05] LISS: Yeah. She found out a spoil spoiler. Oh no. Yeah. Can you say what it is? Or did, have you already said, yeah, we can say it here.

[00:11:11] MICH: Oh yeah, I can say it here. Yeah, I saw a

[00:11:13] spoiler

[00:11:14] LISS: that, okay, newbies, the next 30 seconds is a spoiler. If you do not want to know, said spoiler, please. Fast forward. You have been warned.

[00:11:31] MICH: Spend and Caleb date

[00:11:33] LISS: or something like that. Wait, what? I don't

[00:11:35] Brooke: remember that.

[00:11:37] Oh,

[00:11:37] LISS: wait. What is. I don't know. I won't tell. I won't tell. I won't tell when. Oh my God. Yeah. So I was like, oh man. Yeah. But like, don't even, don't harp on it. Really.

[00:11:50] Brooke: I was gonna say, it must not matter because I don't remember remember it and I, yeah.

[00:11:54] Brooke: So it couldn't have been. Wow. Yeah. Okay. Well that's a spoiler for me too. Spoiler [00:12:00] for my rewatch. Like, did I

[00:12:01] LISS: forget about that? Yeah, you have a while. I'll just say that. You'll have a while. Okay, good. Yeah. Okay. Good. Okay. Yeah, not to worry. Okay, so let's just go over what the F happened in this first season.

[00:12:16] LISS: This is some craziness. Yeah, so we obviously know the premise girls that have been separated for about a year. Mm-hmm. That they have a tragedy of losing their ringleader, if you will, Alison dentis. And so they find out that unfortunately she is murdered. Mm-hmm. During this first season alone, we don't have anyone behind bars.

[00:12:41] LISS: Like nobody is accountable for this. That's true. Oh my God. You're right. Yeah. Yep. There's no one to blame. They blame Toby for a while, but then they're like, you're free Spencer for a little bit. You're free. Yeah.

[00:12:54] Brooke: Which I also forgot about that. Spencer was like a person of interest for a brief minute. I was like,

[00:12:58] LISS: yeah, I forgot about that [00:13:00] too.

[00:13:01] LISS: So

[00:13:01] Brooke: crazy, so much. It's funny cuz these seasons are so long that it's like, yeah, you forget a lot of stuff that happens if it doesn't make a difference to the ending. Mm-hmm. So it's, it's wild to see some of this stuff again.

[00:13:14] LISS: Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. That's what I keep

[00:13:16] MICH: asking lists too, like, cuz I'm trying to, you know, as a new person and you know, you're trying to figure it out.

[00:13:21] MICH: So like, every time a does something, I'm like, does this matter? Are, they're just doing this as like the end card of the episode, right?

[00:13:26] LISS: Right.

[00:13:26] MICH: Are these rats coming back? Do I need to like, pay attention and count? You know? Ooh, that's a leather jacket. That must be a, mm-hmm.

[00:13:35] Brooke: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, don't bother looking for clothes on your bro.

[00:13:39] Brooke: I know. It's like you'll just get lost. Right. I can, I understand that and I do like the end how they added that in as, because it wasn't there originally, but like towards the end of the season they had like these things that like a was doing behind the scenes and I loved that edition. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I really

[00:13:54] LISS: did.

[00:13:54] LISS: Yeah. I forgot that happened until Michelle and I watched the pilot [00:14:00] and I expected. It happen and it didn't. And I was like, oh wait, this is a thing. Like this is a whole thing. Yep. And I guess we started it later on, but it just, it automatically triggered. And I didn't even remember that was a thing until like the end of the episode came and I was waiting for the, A thing.

[00:14:17] LISS: Yeah. And there was no a thing. Yeah. It's a good addition. It is. It, it keeps you on your toes. And like I explained to Michelle, sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't. Just don't hold onto it until you need to. You know, they'll show it to you if you need to know it, basically. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah, for

[00:14:36] Brooke: sure.

[00:14:37] Brooke: It's a

[00:14:37] LISS: good rule of thumb. Um, and so, because no one's behind bars, they had arrested Toby because they had found his sweater on Allison and blood evidence, but I feel like it's very clear the audience and then the police figure out he did not kill. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So first season, Toby, [00:15:00] I mean he, what did you think Michelle, a first season?

[00:15:02] LISS: Toby, overall, because he is just, He really comes in with a bang and then like really like, oh

[00:15:10] MICH: yeah, no. I think in the beginning he was just so awkward and reminded us of a vampire. Mm-hmm. He should have been in twilight. Yeah. And just a couple of the scenes, the way he moved. But he grew on us because I think you, you talked about him with such positivity.

[00:15:27] MICH: I was like, okay, I can read the room here. He's a good guy. Just a little awkward. Yeah. Yeah. And he gets a haircut at some point, so I'm waiting for that.

[00:15:36] Brooke: US accessible guys. Get some haircut. Yes. Yes. I

[00:15:39] LISS: have to use that. And they're worth

[00:15:40] Brooke: it.

[00:15:42] LISS: Love a gun haircut. Yeah, same. I'm waiting for

[00:15:44] MICH: that. I'm waiting for a haircut.

[00:15:46] MICH: Yeah. No, but to. I'm, I'm a fan.

[00:15:49] LISS: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Same. Yeah. So during the season, our girls are, I mean, taunted and tormented by this unknown entity, a obviously the whole premise of the [00:16:00] show. They know everything about past, present, et cetera, of all these girls, and they know a lot. Allison and her relationship with the other four girls and her relationship with whoever.

[00:16:14] LISS: I mean, she was very popular. She had a lot of people that she touched in her life. Mm-hmm. So we learned via flashbacks that Allie obviously liked a lot of attention. She usually got what she wanted, even if that means blackmailing people that got in her way. Yeah. Yeah, so we see this numerous times. The first really with Toby where in the flashback we see that she's blaming him for snooping on them, even though we find out later on he didn't, or so he says, and I think we believe that he didn't.

[00:16:48] LISS: Yeah. And then we also see him get blamed for this fire that we know. The girls have started that blinded his stepsister, Jenna. [00:17:00] Whoa. It's. Like this. Were you guys crazy? Were you doing this in high

[00:17:05] Brooke: school? No. No. Like my high school experience was nothing like this. Like this is wild.

[00:17:10] LISS: Yeah. There was nobody I like disliked enough to actually wanna like do some harm to them.

[00:17:17] LISS: Yeah. You know? Yeah.

[00:17:20] Brooke: It's truly wild. And I was in Pennsylvania and I can tell you they're in Pennsylvania. Yeah. That was not my Pennsylvania, I can tell you that right now.

[00:17:27] LISS: Where do you think, if you had to like guess where Rosewood would be in Pennsylvania? You know, I'm gonna say because they're close to Philly, right?

[00:17:39] LISS: Ish. I don't know, are they? I guess they

[00:17:41] Brooke: do

[00:17:41] LISS: go to, yeah, because Melissa lives in Philly. Like she went to school there. I think. I could be wrong.

[00:17:49] Brooke: I mean, it looks very similar to. Northwestern Pennsylvania, which is where I'm from. Mm-hmm. Like as far as trees, the small town vibe, but I guess all of Pennsylvania probably looks like that [00:18:00] if I'm being honest, so.

[00:18:01] Brooke: Mm-hmm. Yeah, they probably are closer to a big city. Yeah. I was not,

[00:18:05] LISS: so, okay, cool. That's why I just wanted to see, you know, since you've lived there, if you thought it was a specific place. My dad grew up in Pennsylvania, like my grandparents live in the Scranton area, which is like super, super wooded. It's.

[00:18:19] LISS: Yes. There's not like any cute town like this. Right. And Pennsylvania is also huge. So it

[00:18:25] Brooke: is a big state. Yeah, it is. Yeah. Could

[00:18:28] LISS: be anywhere. Yeah, it could be. Yeah. Yeah. So as we said, Jenna is now blinded and Allie has now blackmailed Jenna that we find out because Allison knows that she is, um, assaulting her stepbrother.

[00:18:47] LISS: This is wild.

[00:18:49] Brooke: It's all

[00:18:49] MICH: so crazy, right? Look, what did you, I have to hear what you think about Jenna.

[00:18:55] LISS: Jenna, she's a

[00:18:56] Brooke: vibe. She's, she's Jenna's wild. I like [00:19:00] kind of start, obviously you start kind of feeling bad for her at the beginning. Like she's been blinded by this terrible accident. Um, but as the show goes on, I'm like, man, she deserved to be slept by Hannah.

[00:19:13] Brooke: I'll be, I'll say that first. Like, No one come for me. Okay. I'm not for physical violence. Of course, my God. Course, of course I will get a dm, but like, okay. She was doing some shady stuff and I, I'm not, I'm not a Jenna fan. Hmm. And it's weird cuz she's in a Christmas movie that I watch like every year and I'm like, this is so not Jenna Marshall.

[00:19:34] Brooke: Like, it's such a different

[00:19:35] LISS: character. That's so funny. Which Christmas movie?

[00:19:38] Brooke: It's called Ghost or. Is it called? Oh, ghosts of Girlfriends Pass.

[00:19:43] LISS: Oh, well with Matthew McConaty?

[00:19:45] Brooke: No, no, no, it's not that. Oh. Oh my God. I said that this weekend too, cuz Ris and I were trying to find it. It's like girlfriends of Christmas Pass.

[00:19:51] Brooke: That's what it is. Oh, so they all dated the guy that was in Fuller House. Do you guys remember the vet who worked with Yes. Did you guys watch Fuller House? I the [00:20:00] only,

[00:20:00] LISS: the first season

[00:20:00] MICH: of episodes. Yeah.

[00:20:01] Brooke: Yeah. So he dates DJ for a while. He's like another vet. He's. And all these girls that like used to date him get together and try to like sabotage his Christmas party and Jenna is, she plays like a party planner.

[00:20:14] Brooke: I love it. She's planning this party and doesn't know it and it's just So

[00:20:17] LISS: Does she have an American accent in it or does she have She does, yeah. She does. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah, I love, I just, I love her. I mean, I follow her on all socials and I think she's just, Funny and very creative and just like a nice person.

[00:20:33] LISS: She seems to come off with being a nice person. So yeah, support for her in that movie. Cause it sounds like a funny, a fun c

[00:20:40] Brooke: movie. It's fun. It's a, it's a fun Christmas movie. Yeah. I mean, they're all, it's what you'd expect.

[00:20:45] LISS: Yeah, absolutely. Basically, you know, I'm trying to even feel like, think about how I felt about Jenna.

[00:20:50] LISS: I don't even remember how I felt about Jenna. My first watch, to be honest,

[00:20:55] Brooke: I, I remember. Like hating her for a

[00:20:58] LISS: while. Yeah, I don't think [00:21:00] I had that strong of an opinion, honestly. Yeah,

[00:21:02] Brooke: I don't this time, so maybe I don't know why I don't have it this time, but. The first watch. I was like very mad at her for a good

[00:21:11] LISS: majority for some reason.

[00:21:12] LISS: Yeah. I just feel like she was always very mysterious and there was always something. Mm-hmm. We had to find out about her, like there's still more that we need to find out. Obviously we find out she's. Having an affair? Somewhat. Somewhat. With Garrett? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like

[00:21:28] Brooke: what? Which I also forgot about. I was like, oh my God.

[00:21:31] Brooke: Like this show is like re shocking me all over again. I love it.

[00:21:35] LISS: It's so fun. As soon as I saw Garrett, I remembered, I was like, oh, wait a minute. He like, is also hooking up a Jenna. Yeah. Yeah. I don't really remember else much else about him. I don't either, so. Yeah. Okay. That's good. Yeah. We'll see. That's good.

[00:21:51] LISS: Um, but Ian. One of Allie's, boyfriends, I guess we could say he is huge [00:22:00] in this first season, at least like when we first introduced him. And then con, he continues to drive storyline. Um, he is an ex-boyfriend of Melissa and then Spencer and him had a kiss while he was with Melissa and then they broke up.

[00:22:16] LISS: Um, they don't actually tell you why they broke up the first time. Right. I don't think we know that. Yeah, I don't. Not that it matters, but, and they get back together because he comes into town and this is after Spencer has also kissed Ren. Yeah. Melissa's fiance. This is just so crazy. She has a thing, Spencer.

[00:22:42] Brooke: Yeah. She loves that forbidden fruit, I

[00:22:44] LISS: think. Mm-hmm. You know, and. Every man in this show apparently doesn't wanna date anyone their own age. It's like Unreal. Every single except Cal, one of them. Except for Caleb. Exactly. Except that's why he's good. Toby and Toby. And Toby. Yeah.

[00:22:59] Brooke: [00:23:00] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:23:02] LISS: The two good ones, you know?

[00:23:03] LISS: Yeah, exactly. So like all of this blackmail and getting involved with people, maybe she shouldn't, leads to Allison being murdered again, not saying that she should have been murdered for any of the things that she has done, but Correct. It makes sense as to maybe why she was murdered. Yeah. Ugh. All right, so during the season we have a bunch of a contenders.

[00:23:27] LISS: Our first. Mm-hmm. Mr. No Con himself, Michelle. Mm-hmm. We also have Jenna, obviously, and Toby, and most obvious I feel to the liars would be Ian. Yeah. Who, you know, I think by the end of the season, you're like, well, he's definitely not a Yeah. Right. Yeah, yeah. But no, when he, when they made that reveal, Michelle was like, no.

[00:23:50] LISS: What? There's no way. It's smoke con.

[00:23:53] MICH: I just don't believe it. I can't give him the credit. I can't. Him showing up at the last scene in the episode of this [00:24:00] finale, it's like, for what? What are you, what are you doing here in Ocon? Just to, just to see what's

[00:24:05] LISS: happening.

[00:24:05] Brooke: Yeah. Yeah. He had a contract for so many episodes.

[00:24:08] Brooke: Exactly. Like

[00:24:09] LISS: we have to shove you in here right. At some point here. Don't have any lines, but we'll just shove you in in the corner. Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well,

[00:24:18] Brooke: So wait, Michelle, do you like, like you're a Noel fan, or you're like, how do you feel about Noel?

[00:24:26] MICH: Okay. This is like super, I don't know how we're gonna say it.

[00:24:31] MICH: Like we're just talking about boys, right? Like every teen drama we watch, it's fun to have a crush, right? Yeah, obviously. And so like when it first started, like Ezra, as we. He's so cute, but like it's icky. Mm-hmm. The, the teacher, I couldn't get past it. Right. And I was like, slim pickings. And then NOL Con came and I was like, oh, oh, hi.

[00:24:55] LISS: But then no, con got kinda weird. Yeah. Mm-hmm. His Cheshire cat [00:25:00] smile, like he was always smiling, but he's got beautiful, he's got beautiful teeth, like a beautiful smile. Oh, gorgeous teeth.

[00:25:06] Brooke: Yeah. He's a great looking kid for sure.

[00:25:08] LISS: He's, I mean, bra and he's aged like a fine wine. Mm-hmm.

[00:25:13] Brooke: Has he? I haven't looked at him, I don't

[00:25:15] LISS: think.

[00:25:15] LISS: Yes. In a long time. He's super cute. Yeah. He's really sweet too. Yes. When we met him, yes. We, we met him very nice. Very, very nice. Very sweet. Yeah. Um,

[00:25:23] MICH: so NOL Con, I don't know how I feel because now he, he went away to military school. Is that where he went? No,

[00:25:29] LISS: I think he just got suspended because Oh, okay.

[00:25:33] MICH: In my mind, I shipped him off.

[00:25:34] LISS: He's at war. That's Maya. Yeah. Got, oh, see, I, I think he just got suspended for a while. Oh. Because they had found in his locker, Thanks to a, some like test scores, right? So they had suspended him I guess, until the semester was over and then, you know, maybe he will come back. I honestly don't remember. Maybe he does.[00:26:00]

[00:26:00] LISS: I, I know he's not, yeah, I know he's not like gone, but I don't remember. Remember when we see him again? Yeah. I'm

[00:26:06] Brooke: not sure either.

[00:26:07] MICH: Were you, are you a fan of No. Con

[00:26:09] Brooke: Brooke Pence? About No. Con I think as a whole mm-hmm. I think they're, it's crazy cuz with a lot of these characters. You kind of ebb and flow.

[00:26:17] Brooke: Like there are times where you like are really rooting for them and there's times where you're pissed at them or you think, oh my God, they're a, or they're in on this. Mm-hmm. So it's kind of the same with Noel like, because it's hard cuz like you obviously, I always say no, what happened? Yeah. So it's like now again, and it's like, okay, I'm still on the fence about Noel.

[00:26:35] Brooke: I don't dislike him. Yeah. I think he has his. Yeah. You know, like he, yeah, and he comes in more, I think, as the show goes on and kind of makes more sense. Yeah.

[00:26:44] LISS: I think there's like a storyline either that does happen with him or I completely made it up, so I'm gonna have to look it up because it's wild if I remember it correctly.

[00:26:58] LISS: Wow. So maybe I'm, yeah, I [00:27:00] do. I think I'm onto something, so I'm gonna have to look it up.

[00:27:02] Brooke: Yeah. I do remember him being part of something and I was like, oh, okay.

[00:27:06] LISS: Yeah. All right. Yes, so I think. Okay. Maybe I'm not with you. No, I

[00:27:11] Brooke: don't think you are. I, I think I'm with you on that. All

[00:27:13] LISS: right. So I look forward to opening up that, whenever that happens.

[00:27:17] LISS: Yeah, yeah. Um, but he is the only one besides our other girls that knows, that, knows about Azaria, as we call them. That's not their real ship name. Yeah. But we call them Aria because it just flows off the tongue nicer. It does, aria does. Yeah. So because of him knowing that the girls. They thought he was a, and like they do have that set up where he does write, I see you on the car.

[00:27:43] LISS: It does, it does look like he could be a but ultimately he's not a Yeah, yeah. We also have, um, to touch upon some like Ezra Arias stuff. Mm-hmm. I'm always like, not excited to [00:28:00] talk about them. Do you, do you

[00:28:01] MICH: like me, like them as a couple? Brooke? Like, how do you feel about them?

[00:28:05] Brooke: I. At first, I was like, okay, they have good chemistry.

[00:28:09] Brooke: Like, I get it. Yes. Like when they first meet and they really hit it off and like, I was kind of rooting for them, but like toward the end of the season, I'm like, Ari is just acting like a complete moron. Like she's just, she's acting like a child really, if we're being honest, you know? Mm-hmm. Like her age is kind of showing and I'm like, not rooting for them as much, you know?

[00:28:26] Brooke: Yes. Like, eh,

[00:28:27] LISS: get it together. Yeah. It, and I feel like throughout the entire show we're having these same arguments. Because she is underage and a teenager. Right. And he is just obviously way more established in his life, so. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it was, it's hard to even just watch the, in the first season and then knowing like, oh God, we still have so much of that to go, uh, yeah.

[00:28:53] LISS: Michelle is like, yay. I'm so excited. I've told Liz that I

[00:28:58] MICH: actually zone out when [00:29:00] they're on screen. Yeah. And I'm just like, well, when I zone back in or come. We're still talking about the same thing.

[00:29:05] LISS: Yeah. And I'm like, to be fair, IM summing it up and it's the same thing over and over again. Every episode basically.

[00:29:11] LISS: It is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're right to tune it out. Yeah. But some drama does happen by the end of the season. We have an ex. Girlfriend, ex-fiance of Ezra, Jackie Molina, who works at Hollis College and will be potentially working with Ezra. So Uhhuh. So she,

[00:29:30] MICH: she becomes a

[00:29:31] LISS: character. Um, I think, yeah, we do see her definitely more.

[00:29:36] LISS: Yeah. But she's not like a big, I don't think pickle. She doesn't really Got it. Mm. Yeah. For their storyline at least. It's not something really exciting there. Yeah. Okay. And then we have Aria's parents who are dealing with this infidelity pretty early on in the season. I mean, the audience. Excuse me, the audience knows about it, and then mm-hmm.

[00:29:58] LISS: A does eventually [00:30:00] tell Ella that this is happening, which I just, Byron is just trash to me ever. Well, it's, he's just gross. Like, I don't know. It is gross. Just knowing what I know about him in the, even in the first, uh, season, I'm like, Ugh, Byron. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:30:18] Brooke: Well, I. He had an affair with a student, his daughter's meeting a teacher.

[00:30:22] MICH: It's like,

[00:30:22] LISS: okay. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Right. But we haven't seen

[00:30:25] MICH: her. You said she's not on, like we, she makes a comeback. The person had

[00:30:29] LISS: an affair. Yes, Meredith. She does. Never did. She does come back at some point. I don't know when I don't remember that either. Another like Fever Dream I feel like I had about the show.

[00:30:40] LISS: I know. I was like, is that a real thing? Maybe it's, I know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's lots of things that feel like Fever Dreams when it comes to the show. Yeah.

[00:30:50] Brooke: Well, so much happens on this show that it's like hard to, there's a lot of twists and turns. Yeah. Right. Plus, when the seasons are so long, it's hard to remember.[00:31:00]

[00:31:00] Brooke: Did this happen this season? Was that like, there were things that happened that I could have sworn were at the end of the season and they were not. Mm-hmm. So like, they haven't happened yet. I'm like, wow.

[00:31:08] LISS: Okay. Yeah. Interesting. Right, exactly. And it all, it all just blends together. It does, you know, all of like the high school years and then like after post that, forget about it.

[00:31:20] LISS: I don't remember like anything that happens when they get outta high school. Yeah. Well, are they, are they senior? No, they're juniors. Okay.

[00:31:29] Brooke: They are juniors. Mm-hmm. I wasn't a hundred percent sure. I was like, cuz she was talking, aria was talking about looking at colleges and I'm like, but I guess that makes sense.

[00:31:37] Brooke: Cause if they're seniors, that wouldn't be that big of a

[00:31:39] LISS: deal with Ezra. Yeah. But I don't know when they like. Go on and graduate. Like I feel like we have a while until then. I know they're any memory of them. They're juniors, but like would make sense. Okay. Maybe another season, then they would graduate.

[00:31:54] LISS: It doesn't happen that way that I remember. No. So, no. Yeah. Wow. [00:32:00] We'll see Michelle. It's a Germany. Yes, you will. It sure is. It's a journey. Yeah. Um, as I said, another suspect of a is Jenna Marshall who does come back into town after Allie has their funeral. Have they have allie's funeral? Because now I guess she feels like, Hey, I can come back into town.

[00:32:20] LISS: Right. And she's determined to prevent anyone from finding out about her and Toby. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So Toby, he plays a huge part in this season. At first, as I said before, he is a suspect. That we learned the evidence is inconclusive. So he does go free, but he's like, I'm being framed, obviously. And then another person who's being framed is Spencer.

[00:32:44] LISS: And because of this mm-hmm. The two really, they form a bond and then it eventually leads into this romantic relationship, which I'm just loving. I, I'm so happy this is happening.

[00:32:56] Brooke: They're so sweet together. Like I, they balance each other out, so, [00:33:00] Yeah, like there's that scene in like the last episode where I said the last person where Spencer's like asleep on his lap.

[00:33:07] Brooke: Oh my God. She, I'm like, first of all, how could anyone fall asleep? Like that? Like that is very unrealistic, but it's like sweet. I don't know. Like she just feels so safe with him and it's so sweet. I love them together. I know.

[00:33:18] LISS: It's really

[00:33:19] MICH: sweet. I, I, I predicted, or I put it out there that he's the one who came and saved her.

[00:33:28] LISS: Like in the bell tower. Yes. I was like, oh, she thinks that Toby is the A, the A looking figure. Yeah. But, right,

[00:33:34] MICH: right. But it's not actually a, in my mind, that wasn't a, it was just Toby and a hoodie coming to save Spencer. Mm-hmm. We shall, we

[00:33:43] Brooke: shall. And I'm wrong. Think is, yeah. Ian obviously knows. Right.

[00:33:48] Brooke: Exactly. Right. That's like, what are

[00:33:50] LISS: you doing here? Mm-hmm. It's so crazy. I

[00:33:54] Brooke: know,

[00:33:55] MICH: I know.

[00:33:56] LISS: Yeah. Oh goodness. We [00:34:00] have Emily dealing with her sexuality and we find out that she had once had feelings, very strong feelings, feelings of love for Allison, and in this season she's exploring. Emotions and feelings with a newcomer Maya St.

[00:34:18] LISS: Jermaine, whose family has now moved into allie's old home. And so Emily's really conservative. Mom does not like this whatsoever. She's not handling it well, and she like single-handedly gets Maya shipped off to juvie. What? This is so weird,

[00:34:39] Brooke: so mad at her mom, like, oh my God. So mad. Yeah.

[00:34:43] LISS: This is terrible.

[00:34:45] LISS: Yeah. And poor Maya like. She's just there forced. And we've had that whole argument, Michelle and I are talking about how Maya's parents, it just didn't seem like they would be the type of people to send their kid off to juvie camp like they were cool [00:35:00] people. Yeah. So, yeah, it was just

[00:35:01] Brooke: so easy. Yeah. Like, all right, fine.

[00:35:03] Brooke: We believe you

[00:35:04] LISS: lady. Yeah. I think I, from what I. Could predict. I feel like the actress probably just had another job and Yeah. They had to do something with that. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:35:14] Brooke: That's probably

[00:35:15] LISS: accurate. Yeah, because it just doesn't, didn't make any sense. Yeah. Um, so Pam and Emily, they do eventually, I wouldn't say like patch things up, but maybe bandaid their relationship for Yeah, the time being and, um, they coexist while Emily deals with homophobia from parents at school like Nick McCullers.

[00:35:39] LISS: And then we, we meet Paige McCulloughs. Brooke, I'm sure you. Paige McCullough is like, you can never forget Paige. What you

[00:35:49] Brooke: really can't forget, Paige, I, yeah. She's another one that you go on a real journey with. I feel like on this show, you know? Right. Start off. She's very much a pain in the [00:36:00] ass. Very. And then kind of comes around and, yeah, that's a, that's a fun story that I think unfolds.

[00:36:08] Brooke: Time goes on without

[00:36:09] LISS: saying too much. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. And she does, does soften. I mean, granted at the end of this season, we don't really see, we see a little bit of it, but not a lot. Mm-hmm. And you know, Paige and Emily, they do have the romantic feelings for each other and. But Paige is just ultimately not ready to tell the world that she's gay.

[00:36:30] LISS: And Emily finally this season, has found her voice and her footing, and she feels like she knows who she is as a person and doesn't wanna be held back by that. And so I just loved watching from like the first moment we meet Emily to the end of the season, like she completely, yeah. Did a 180. It really just held her own and I, I just really enjoyed watching her.

[00:36:54] LISS: Yeah.

[00:36:54] Brooke: She has a good arc.

[00:36:55] LISS: Yeah, yeah, yeah, she does. She grew for me

[00:36:58] Brooke: and I love her friendship with Toby too. [00:37:00] Me

[00:37:00] LISS: too. Yeah. I think that's a fun friendship. Yeah. We love a platonic relationship. Like we never get that on teen dramas almost. No.

[00:37:09] Brooke: Yeah. That's like Hannah and Lucas too. I mean, obviously Lucas is in love with Hannah.

[00:37:14] Brooke: You know, he

[00:37:14] LISS: comes around. Yeah. Yeah. And he does that, that selfless act in the end of the season. Yeah. Yeah. Bringing Caleb in. Ah, Caleb. Oh, Caleb. Caleb. Oh man. The listeners are like enough already with Caleb. I know, I know,

[00:37:30] MICH: I know.

[00:37:31] LISS: Never enough. This podcast. And we could sing. We love one.

[00:37:34] Brooke: Exactly. Yeah. Yeah, this is our podcast.

[00:37:40] LISS: I love it. Uh, but we have to talk about Hannah. I, I think Michelle and I have voted her, her and Spencer. We teeter between our top two liars. Yeah. If we had to pick, at least in this first season, Hannah made such a great. Tremendous progress. The first time we meet her, she's stealing sunglasses. And then the last time we see [00:38:00] her, she's like telling someone like she loves them.

[00:38:02] LISS: Like she's just, yeah, she's such a good friend. Good person. She is. And when we get introduced to her, she is the IT girl that take has taken on allie's responsibility of that, but not a mean girl. Right, right. But Mona, that's important. Her friend on the other hand is Mona is really quickly becoming Allison and being.

[00:38:25] LISS: Just the worst.

[00:38:25] Brooke: Yeah. Really. I know. Really unlikeable character all around Monica.

[00:38:30] LISS: I feel like she's funny. Definitely funny, but not like the more that you see her, the more you're like, well, you're just a crappy person. Like you're just not nice. Yeah.

[00:38:39] Brooke: Great actor though. Amazing. Like she plays it so well.

[00:38:43] Brooke: Mm-hmm. Like you gotta give her credit for that. For

[00:38:45] LISS: sure. Yeah. That's a good email. She definitely has like the Blair Waldorf vibes. Mm-hmm. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. We'll see. Maybe she'll make a turn. I don't remember honestly.

[00:38:59] Brooke: See, I [00:39:00] remember so much about Mona

[00:39:01] LISS: for some reason. I mean, I remember like big things that happened with Mona, but I don't like remember her,

[00:39:07] Brooke: uh, her journey.

[00:39:08] Brooke: Her journey.

[00:39:08] LISS: Like her little, her little things. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Michelle's like taking it in. I, yeah, I'm absorbing.

[00:39:13] Brooke: I know. She's like a sponge right now. That down.

[00:39:16] MICH: Yes, exactly.

[00:39:18] LISS: Yeah. Um, but we see Hannah and Mona's relationship, which they have each other. And then when the girls start hanging out again, Mona's kind of like.

[00:39:28] LISS: Know, thrown to the side a little bit. Yeah. We also see her Hannah befriend. The underdog Lucas, as we said before, him and Hannah do really become like good friends and he gets over the fact that he is in love with her, which I feel like he, he is like friend zone, so he like knows he has to just kind of move on, you know?

[00:39:50] Brooke: Right. It's sad. Yeah. I, I will. I don't love how long it took Hannah to stick up for Lucas with Mona. Like there were a couple times where I'm like, just say [00:40:00] something. Yeah. Like, tell her to stop and then finally she does. Yeah. I'm like, okay, okay, good. But I was like, if it were me, yeah. I'd be like, no, stop, stop talking.

[00:40:09] Brooke: Stop calling him that.

[00:40:11] LISS: But, uh, I'm glad she Yeah. Her, I mean, her nicknames are just awful. Uh,

[00:40:15] Brooke: yeah. Yeah. I feel like awful. If this show was on today, that would not. A thing at all? No, never. No, definitely side

[00:40:25] LISS: of times. No, no, no. Yeah, no. Would not fly. Yeah, definitely

[00:40:28] Brooke: not fly. And this, it's funny cuz this show's very progressive, like in its storylines, like with Emily and all the relationships I feel like.

[00:40:35] Brooke: So it's kind of kind of crazy that that made the cut. Yeah,

[00:40:40] LISS: I know. Yeah. Hannah does eventually does stick up for Lucas and. She's coming out of her like mm-hmm. Pop, I wouldn't say like her popularity shell, but like, yeah. You can see she's using her popularity for good and not for evil. And I love the dynamic between her and her mother at [00:41:00] home.

[00:41:00] LISS: It's like a, as we were talking with, I think it was, um, Was it with Molly? We were talking about how like almost like Gilmore girl ask. Mm-hmm. Mother and daughter and how close they are to each other and what they were, yeah. How they were dealing with their financial woes and how they're on each other's sides.

[00:41:16] LISS: And a blackmailing Hannah, because of it. And that's like the only time we really see Hannah become. I wouldn't say a bad friend, but having issues with her friendship is because of a, and what a is forcing her to do throughout. Mm-hmm. The few episodes that they're blackmailing. Yeah. They do have

[00:41:35] Brooke: a very supportive mother-daughter relationship.

[00:41:38] Brooke: I think the only other mother-daughter on the show that comes close to that is Arian Ella. Mm-hmm. But I do like, yeah, with Hannah and her mom, they kind of just are like, Listen, you're gonna do some shit and I'm gonna support you through it. Like it's just us against the world, so let's do it. You know? I love

[00:41:55] LISS: that.

[00:41:56] LISS: Yeah. It's so true. Yeah. Like we'll do some [00:42:00] shady shit and like hope for the best if I go to jail. You got my backs. Yeah. Vice versa. Do you have a favorite parent? I really,

[00:42:10] Brooke: at this point, I guess I really like Ella. I think she's just very normal and sweet and supportive. Yeah, I think she's probably my favorite

[00:42:21] LISS: parent right now.

[00:42:23] LISS: Yeah. She, she is actually very supportive and I like the fact that Byron was going through Aria's stuff and she was like, Uhuh. Yeah. We're respecting our kids' privacy. We don't lie, we don't like, you know, do shady shit. Yeah. So, yeah, she, she's a good parent. We'll get warm. She's a good parent. Yeah.

[00:42:43] LISS: Definitely. Yeah. Um, on back to Hannah though, as we were talking about Caleb, we have hired Caleb to. I mean, the first was to get Emily to be able to talk to Maya, but then they utilized him to kind of [00:43:00]break into Jenna's phone. And you know what I was thinking? Did he not give them information from Jenna's phone because he was working for Jenna?

[00:43:08] LISS: Mm. Or he literally just didn't know how to use her phone? You know, if I

[00:43:15] Brooke: had to guess it's because he was working

[00:43:17] LISS: with Jenna, you know?

[00:43:19] Brooke: Yeah. Like, come

[00:43:19] LISS: on, you can't get into this phone. Yeah. Right. You're a sexy

[00:43:22] Brooke: hacker. You can get in there if you want to. This is what you do. Yeah. Come on.

[00:43:27] LISS: Yeah. But then again, at that point, that was right after Hannah had seen him naked in the shower.

[00:43:36] LISS: Yeah. And um, I feel like at that point already, he was starting to like catch feelings for her on vice versa. Maybe we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say like, no, he actually couldn't jailbreak it, and there was nothing to report on. But it was just a thought in my mind when I was like, you know, in retrospect, I'm like, wait a minute, did he not give them the information on purpose?

[00:43:56] LISS: But the good thought, we'll see. Mm-hmm. Yeah. [00:44:00] Yeah. Um, and then another huge thing that happens is this key that Caleb was supposed to be signed up to find, and it's actually in Emily's possession. It's under a snow globe that Allison had given her as a present from when she came back from her trip. And, uh, this.

[00:44:21] LISS: It leads them to a storage unit with one lunchbox. Just one lunchbox. Yeah.

[00:44:28] Brooke: And some very crazy lighting that you would never see in a storage unit, like those overhead spotlights. It's like no storage unit

[00:44:34] LISS: has this lighting. You're so right. The real light is so unrealistic. Yes. Yes, it is. So true. And then, oh my god.

[00:44:42] LISS: One lunch, Tweety bird lunchbox, just randomly in the middle. Mm-hmm. Like perfectly in the middle of this storage unit. Yeah. And inside is that thumb drive that has videos of the girls. It seems like for years it also has Toby and [00:45:00] Jenna on it. Who knows whatever else is on there. Um, it's unclear who is behind the camera, but I think were to either assume it was Ian, or maybe it was Garrett, or maybe it was someone else.

[00:45:16] LISS: So, yeah, well, whoever

[00:45:18] Brooke: it was obviously had a boom mic because they picked up some really great audio from, from wherever they were. It's like, you can hear Jenna whispering

[00:45:26] LISS: to Toby. Freaking true. Unbelievable. They had great equipment. Such a, whoever it was, they did.

[00:45:34] Brooke: Yeah, for sure. Real

[00:45:36] LISS: hobby. Yeah. But in a nutshell, besides like Ian.

[00:45:41] LISS: Being a, a crazy person, really, truly wanting to murder his sister-in-law. That was the season, you know, it was a, it was a pretty, it was a good first season. Definitely entertaining. Yeah. I have some. Honorable mentions, [00:46:00] most of them are gone, but some of them are not. But I'm not gonna tell you who they are, Michelle.

[00:46:04] LISS: So, oh my God, come on. Really? They, I think some of them I've confirmed that they're either coming back or not, but I will, uh, the honorable, honorable mentions we have are Alex Spencer's boyfriend. Okay. I was just about to be like, who is Alex? I know

[00:46:19] Brooke: for a second I was like, wait, who's Alex?

[00:46:22] LISS: He was

[00:46:22] MICH: so cute.

[00:46:22] MICH: I totally

[00:46:23] LISS: forgot about that. I know. Oh my gosh. That's right. Um, and that was, you know, a, a nice storyline that they abruptly ended. We have brother Jason who came into town and then we'll soon get New brother Jason, which I'm so excited for him. It's

[00:46:43] Brooke: like, what for, we can say this, but like the guy they get to play, Jason looks nothing like the original Jason.

[00:46:48] Brooke: I know. Like, not even remotely.

[00:46:51] LISS: What happened here? It was, it's such a stark difference that the audience was like, wait, that is definitely not the same. [00:47:00] Trying to be the same person. Do yeah. Do they

[00:47:03] MICH: poke fun at that or we just, it's seamless. I don't

[00:47:05] Brooke: think so. Just, just transition.

[00:47:07] LISS: We're just supposed to suspend belief.

[00:47:08] LISS: Yeah. Oh yeah. They're definitely, there's no conversation. Like, Hey Jason, you cut your hair. Hey Jason, you like right. Indicting something funny. Um, where were you the last six months getting a face transplant? Like, nobody says anything like that. It's just like, yeah, we just ignore and go on. Got it. Right.

[00:47:26] LISS: Yeah.

[00:47:26] Brooke: Got it. Okay. Whole reconstructive surgery. Yeah.

[00:47:32] Brooke: Like he could have been in a fire, they could have said something like that. Like he had to get constrict surgery. Like they could have

[00:47:38] said

[00:47:38] LISS: something. Yes. But yeah, they make it make sense. They didn't they, but mm-hmm. As I said to Michelle, I am. Excited for new Jason. Yeah. Because I find him to be adorable.

[00:47:50] LISS: Yeah. It's

[00:47:50] Brooke: a, it's a better Jason for sure.

[00:47:52] LISS: Yeah. Yeah. Um, we have Meredith, who is Byron's mis. Mm-hmm. Mistress. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Hannah's dad, [00:48:00] Tom, we met him this season. I did. He's not on the island. Okay. We'll see him again. Detective Walden. Remember him? Mm-hmm. Yeah. He was such a douchey detective. Yeah. Sean.

[00:48:14] LISS: Vanilla Sean, does Sean come back? Oh my God, no. Okay. I was

[00:48:18] Brooke: gonna say, I didn't think so. I forgot all about Sean.

[00:48:21] LISS: Yeah. Good. Yeah, he can go. Yeah, he's just Michelle and I. By the end, were like, God, Sean, boring. Go. Yeah.

[00:48:28] Brooke: It's like even if he did come back, is Hannah really gonna choose him over Caleb? Come on. No,

[00:48:32] LISS: never.

[00:48:34] LISS: No, no, no, no. Uh, Ben, who was Emily's nasty boyfriend, very briefly, Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That guy, we have Ezra's roommate Hardy, who is played by Patrick Adams. We have Wayne Emily's dad. Mm-hmm. We meet him in this season. Mm-hmm. Simone Aria's, old babysitter. Oh yeah. [00:49:00] Oh yeah. And then we have Mrs.

[00:49:02] LISS: Potter and Mr. Leland, r i p. Mrs. Potter's definitely dead. Yeah. She's. Yeah. Okay. She's gone. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, cool. Yeah, and then I have just some alley or a events that are left unclear, so things that are very like suspicious or vague or things that will get summed up eventually. What has happened in the first season, the things that have just left us with some questions.

[00:49:35] LISS: So we have a photo taken of Allison leaving Spencer's barn that night. We still don't really have confirmation as to who took this photo. Right. Jason thinks it could be him, but he's not really sure. Yeah, right. I feel like the whole Hilton head thing's still very unclear. Very unclear. Yeah. That was.[00:50:00]

[00:50:00] Brooke: Because Melissa's like he was there to see me, but then why was Allie there? Right? Why is she

[00:50:05] LISS: also, why do you have to go to Hilton Head to get an abortion? You and

[00:50:10] MICH: you live in Pennsylvania, you live me. You're not going to the south to get an abortion. Yeah. Makes

[00:50:14] Brooke: sense. Well, you got a free abortion with a round of golf at that place, so there you go.

[00:50:18] Brooke: It's cost effective. Yeah, exactly. That's what it was. Yeah, exactly.

[00:50:22] LISS: Yeah. Oh, I love it. Of the video footage that a had sent to the girls to show that Allie was with Ian that night. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It's still. The police still don't have that. It's confirmed he was in this video and, um, we don't know if Spencer, obviously Spencer doesn't have any copies, but, right.

[00:50:41] LISS: Um, we don't know who deleted the video off of Spencer's laptop. That's true. Was it Ian? Was it a, mm-hmm. What else? The fake friendship bracelets from Jenna and Allison and the woman at the store covering up who bought them. Yes, yes. I [00:51:00] love, did we go back to, I think so. I think

[00:51:03] Brooke: so. Because she says to whoever she's talking about something about their eyes.

[00:51:08] LISS: Yeah. And I don't, it has beautiful eyes or something. Yeah. And I don't

[00:51:12] Brooke: remember who she's talking to, and so I'm like, oh my God. Who has beautiful eyes? Who has beautiful eyes? Like so many of them have beautiful

[00:51:19] LISS: eyes. I know. I was same. I was like, I don't remember anything. About that. Oh God. It's crazy.

[00:51:27] LISS: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Um, the home videos of the girls, Jenna and Toby, unclear who took them. Mm-hmm. And kind of unclear how Allie got them. I mean, if it was Ian, maybe that would make sense that she would get them from Ian. But if it's not Ian, then how did she get them in her possession? Right. Um, who pushed Ian off the ledge at church?

[00:51:50] LISS: Yes. Is it a, a friend, a foe? Other, we don't know. Yeah.

[00:51:56] Brooke: Well, it's safe to say they're a foe at this point. To Ian at least. [00:52:00] Yeah. To Ian at least. Yes. To Ian at

[00:52:01] LISS: least. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Who hit Hannah with their car? Mm. Still don't know that God. Allie coming to Hannah in a dream, telling her that she already knows the truth.

[00:52:15] LISS: Oh my God. I totally forgot

[00:52:17] MICH: about this scene. I keep saying that a broken my Thank you. I'm like, I totally forgot about that. I totally forgot about that. Oh my God. But for like a split second, I'm like, wait, I

[00:52:25] LISS: think this actually is real. Yeah. Remember I said that? I'm like, you did Allie's actually alive

[00:52:31] MICH: and it could be,

[00:52:31] LISS: well, that, that's the whole thing.

[00:52:33] LISS: Could be fun about it, is that's, yeah. Right. You know which one isn't. It would be awesome if she was alive actually telling Hannah these things. Yeah. And then my last one for lol, Mrs. Potter's death. Was it a, was it old age? We'll never know. We'll never know.

[00:52:51] MICH: Oh, no. I really hope a did not kill this woman.

[00:52:55] MICH: You know? Yeah. Let's just, Ian Fine, but

[00:52:59] LISS: not [00:53:00] Mrs. Potter. Right. So this whole season. Like a has utilized their secrets to their advantage, but then sometimes a just like surprises all of us. Yeah. And saves Ezra and Aria's relationship or Right. Kills Ian. So we think, you know, yeah. It's just like what, who are they?

[00:53:20] LISS: What are they up to? I know. What is their main goal?

[00:53:24] Brooke: I know it's like, I almost feel like the way A comes in and like saves them sometimes is like, They're my play toys and I don't want anything to happen to them. Mm-hmm. So I'm gonna make sure they stick around and they're still here for me to play with.

[00:53:38] LISS: Exactly. The puppets or the dolls. Yeah. Yeah. If you'll, yeah. Mm-hmm. Right. But overall, I mean, I think it's a pretty damn good for a season of a ridiculous television show that only gets more and more ridiculous.

[00:53:54] Brooke: Yeah. It's, it's so fun. It's like escapism. In a really fun way.

[00:53:59] LISS: [00:54:00] Absolutely serious way. Yeah.

[00:54:02] LISS: It's a great fantasy. Mm-hmm. And it leaves you coming back for more, like you're always wanting more. Yep. Yeah. You know, so overall it was fun and I can't wait to watch season two with you, Michelle. Same.

[00:54:18] MICH: Yeah. And I can, we have to wait till the fall.

[00:54:20] Brooke: Oh my gosh. Oh, you do? I'm like, I, so I started like season two just started playing and I was like, no, I'm gonna end this because I'm gonna get confused.

[00:54:28] Brooke: Like talking to you guys. I'm like, I'm gonna think something happened that didn't happen and I don't wanna ruin it for anybody. So I'm like, I'm gonna, But I will contin like tomorrow, I'm gonna keep watching it, so,

[00:54:38] LISS: yes. Yeah, I know. I did play like the, the first 10 to 15 minutes of season two. Yeah. And I was like, oh my God, no.

[00:54:45] LISS: I can't watch anymore. Even though I really, really wanted to. Like I, I know I was getting on a binge. I was liking where it was going. It's

[00:54:53] Brooke: an easy show to play. I could totally binge.

[00:54:54] MICH: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I could totally binge this if we were not podcasting it. Mm-hmm. I would.

[00:54:59] LISS: I [00:55:00] know we've, we'd be done by now.

[00:55:01] LISS: We started the show in August. I feel like by now we'd be done with the whole show. Yeah. If we've

[00:55:06] Brooke: been, shit. It's also a show that like kind of pisses you off after a while because. You know, they kept it going for seven seasons. It's like, at some point it's like, just tell us, like, just tell us what's going on.

[00:55:19] Brooke: I know my parents started watching it when it first came out and then stopped cuz they got so mad. Hmm. But I have nothing better to do, so I stuck with it. You know, like, all right, I, I'm in, I'm in for the ride.

[00:55:29] LISS: Right. Yeah. I mean, if like at that point as they kept getting signed on for more seasons, I would.

[00:55:35] LISS: More and more pissed that we were getting signed on for more seasons because I was like, wait, no, it's never ending. We're never gonna find out like the ultimate thing. Yeah. And I just remember, like I watched it with my sister and our friends and my mom. My mom even watched it with us, and we all just like, Was like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

[00:55:53] LISS: As soon as the episode would end, like we couldn't get over it. Yeah. But it was like such a fun [00:56:00] time in my life, like I know. It just was good times. It's like I had no responsibilities. It was like 2010. Yeah. Yeah. I just would sit and watch television and go on message boards and just see what everyone's a predictions were.

[00:56:12] LISS: It was fun. Yeah.

[00:56:13] Brooke: I wish I would've done that at the time, like had a community to talk about it with. Yeah. Just to, you know, you have so many theories and so many things are going.

[00:56:21] LISS: It definitely helped. It helped me feel better about the situation because everyone was like equally frustrated. Yeah, yeah.

[00:56:28] LISS: And mad or like just up in arms about whatever. So it was definitely a fun time to be on the internet. Yeah. Yeah, I

[00:56:37] MICH: bet. Where, what was I watching when you guys were gathering? Lost? What was I doing? Was lost on, was I just home by myself? Was lost on them.

[00:56:46] Brooke: Uh, maybe. Yeah, I

[00:56:48] MICH: think that was,

[00:56:49] LISS: yeah, lost was definitely on.

[00:56:50] LISS: Yeah. Cause you guys watched that like, I mean I still have never seen that show, which I'd love to. Yeah. At some point. Yeah. Um, but like that was on then I don't really remember what [00:57:00] else, like Glee. Glee was Glee on. Glee was on, yeah. Too. Watch Glee. That was probably, yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuz at that point this was like the only show.

[00:57:10] LISS: That I watched, that was on a b ABC family. Like at this point, we were totally way grown to watch anything on ABC family.

[00:57:18] Brooke: Yeah, we are. We were too old then and we're too old now. We were definitely, we watched skate again. Exactly.

[00:57:23] LISS: Correct. But you know what? Who cares, right? It's an escapism. We need that in the world today.

[00:57:29] LISS: Just to feel percent, you know, some sort of something different. Feel something. Yeah. So, yeah. Yeah, it's good times. Thank you so much, Brock. This is, oh my gosh. Thank you Brooke. And we would love to have you on again if you're, you know, up for it. Season

[00:57:45] Brooke: two, of course. Yeah, I'm gonna wanna talk about it to somebody.

[00:57:48] Brooke: So it's unfortunately you guys, unfortunately for you now you're who I go to

[00:57:52] LISS: DM or email me any thoughts you have and I love, if you like remember something crazy, definitely let me know. Cause I'm sure I [00:58:00] don't remember it and we've been having to talk about it. Yes, definitely. Oh, I remember that doll con thing.

[00:58:06] Brooke: Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I will. Trust

[00:58:08] LISS: me. I will. Awesome. This has been such a fun first season. We thank everyone for listening, is sticking with us for 22 weeks. I mean, it's a long show, very long, so we have a lot to go and we'll be back in the fall on a, the date T B D, but sometime in October we think. Yeah. Ooh, that's a good time.
